The Operations Support Supervisor is responsible for the Operations Support Technician Organization that services ACCIONA projects throughout the North America region. This position will plan the travel needs of the Operations Support team in accordance with the strategic planning and needs of the operating sites. The role will lead and support the staff in scheduling, training, development, and other areas as necessary to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.
- Management and leadership of the Operations Support Technician organization.
- Lead the implementation of processes and procedures to safely and effectively maintain Acciona renewable generating facilities for “Best in Class Performance”.
- Maintain knowledge of traveling team, including, but not limited to quality, safety, environmental, training, and personnel concerns.
- Support sites by planning of the travel needs and distribution of the Operations Support team to ensure a successful transformation of strategic plans into tactical actions that will accomplish goals.
- Approving time sheets and leave requests as well as scheduling R&R for mobile teams.
- Ensure execution of all repairs at all renewable generating locations in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct inspections and audits of site facilities, including wind turbines and processes.
- Responsible for leading and partaking in injury and equipment failure incident investigations, which includes Root Cause Analysis.
- Oversee the annual budgeting process, which includes budget variance and forecasting reviews, understanding cause of budget deviations and options to adjust budgets as needed.
- Ensure Operations Support team completes all required training and miscellaneous activities.
- Lead the staff development and succession planning efforts for the Operations Support team, which includes recruiting, employee retention, and training/development.
- Perform assembly, commissioning, testing, retrofitting, repair and maintenance on wind turbine generators and related equipment at wind farm
- Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards in the wind turbines, switch room, and the O&M building
- Complete required and accurate documentation associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of wind turbines and associated equipment; maintain records of documentation
- Utilize appropriate safety gear, protective equipment, and control or dissipation of energy sources to ensure work is performed in safe manner
- Develop tooling list for all major correctives and properly maintain tools and equipment used to perform assigned maintenance assignments
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills and Competencies
- Minimum of 10-15 years Lead Wind Turbine Technician experience or other related experience in a Supervisor/Leadership role
- Prior Travel Technician Experience preferred
- Requires a high school education or equivalent, college degree a plus
- Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for work and/or training for extended periods of time
- Travel: 50% - 75% depending on home base location
- Must live within 60 miles of an Acciona Facility
