The opportunity

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in our IFRS 17 Reporting team.  The team focuses in delivering IFRS 17 reporting requirements, including but not limited to reserves, Drivers of Earnings analysis, Contractual Service Margin (CSM) and New Business CSM analysis, and other Group requirements for the assigned lines of businesses.  The team also provides timely and accurate forecasts of key financial metrics, including but not limited to IFRS 17 Core Earnings and NBCSM, delivering insightful analyses that help drive business results.  We would also expect the role to ever-improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial results production, leveraging technologies and extensive support from various internal parties / Group and Regional offices.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Risk Management, Mathematics or Statistics, or related disciplines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with willingness to deal with complex financial issues and concepts.
  • Strong technical/modeling skills, knowledge or experience in Microsoft Access, VBA and AXIS is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial issues and concepts, paying attention to details.
  • Good communication and relationship skills.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team setting, under pressure and deadlines.
  • Effective command of English, both spoken and written.
  • For Managers, willing and able to lead, encourage, support and develop more junior colleagues.

On the job you will:

  • Support in IFRS 17 reporting requirements, including but not limited to reserves, Drivers of Earnings analysis, Contractual Service Margin (CSM) and New Business CSM analysis, and other Group requirements for the assigned lines of businesses.
  • Support in delivering timely and accurate business forecasts of key financial metrics, including but not limited to IFRS 17 Core Earnings and NBCSM, with analyses and insights to support business decision. 
  • Assist in the model change management process to keep valuation models up-to-date and under control / meet audit requirements, to improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial results production, and to assist in other IFRS 17 / related requirements where appropriate.
  • Support in delivering Group capital requirement and other ad hoc tasks related to IFRS 17
