The Head Operations Planning, Short-term is responsible for managing the governance, operations planning process, and performance improvement programs, ensuring they align with strategic priorities and Operations Performance KPIs. This role will oversee the planning for seasonal network changes over the next 12 months, focusing on readiness and risk mitigation, including operational changes and evolving operating models.

Key responsibilities include providing strategic advice to the Qantas Airlines Leadership Team and engaging with business partners, stakeholders, and external consultants. The role demands strategic leadership and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across the Group to develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational outcomes and performance.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with experience in managing confidential strategic projects, implementing continuous improvement programs, and balancing operational needs with strategic changes, such as terminal upgrades. Responsibilities also include managing seasonal risks, optimising cost benefits, enhancing operational excellence, driving cost reduction, improving revenue contribution, and improving performance metrics like OTP and NPS. Experience with lean and agile methodologies and compliance with Group Management Systems and Policy is crucial. This role requires effective communication, strategic advice to executive managers, and leadership of cross-functional teams to achieve Qantas Airlines' objectives.

You’ll have –

  • 15+ years of senior managerial experience leading and managing teams.

  • Masters level qualifications in business/aviation, organisational development, change management, or a related discipline.

  • Strong commercial and business acumen with a demonstrated ability to maintain a commercial focus.

  • Experience in implementing change in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Financial management skills and experience in managing a sizeable budget.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of aviation compliance requirements.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage ambiguity and complexity.
