We seek an experienced, full-time Accounting Specialist with high integrity and professionalism who can join our remote team. As the Accounting Specialist, you will work under the supervision of the Controller to support our corporate team and specific program units to manage accounting activities in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies. Specifically, you will be in charge of bookkeeping and accounts receivables among other supporting roles as the Accounting Specialist.

The ideal candidate for this role possesses solid operational and technical accounting experience, a financial reporting background, and a strong work ethic to achieve results. Compensation for this position is $77,418 annually

This position is entirely remote, but candidates must have the capability to work across different time zones.

What you will do:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations 

  • Generate monthly/quarterly/yearly financial reports 

  • Record general ledger entries 

  • Complete payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices 

  • Review, reconcile, and code monthly credit card statements 

  • Review customer invoices for accuracy

  • Record customer payments and monitor A/R aging 

  • Accrue unbilled invoices monthly 

  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances 

  • Set up new customers in accounting system

  • Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies 

What is required:

  • Must be eligible for employment within the United States 

  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screening (Surefox will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with all requirements of State and local laws, regulations or codes) 

  • Associates degree

  • 5 years experience in the financial field

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines 

  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly 

  • Excellent data entry skills 

  • Great interpersonal and customer service skills 

  • Familiarity with a wide range of financial transactions including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable 

  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office and G Suite applications 

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision 

  • Possesses a high level of integrity along with being action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment 

What is desired:

  • Our desired candidate must be a self-starter who is organized, flexible, detail oriented, and has great communication skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred

  • Has worked with ERP systems, preferably Workday
