Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. 

Applicants must reside within the current recruitment area to include the following counties:  Union, Rabun, Fannin, Towns, GA and Clay, Cherokee, NC

Candidate must have at least twelve consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months.

Starting wage - $17.00/hour with the opportunity to earn an additional $2.50 per hour attendance incentive.

Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends

Location: Blairsville Hatchery, Blairsville, GA  

Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday including holidays 

Hours: 4:50 a.m. until the job is complete. Typically, these positions generally average 40 hours a week.  Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs 

 

Position Summary: 

  • This position is responsible for the transferring of eggs from the setters to the hatchers before and after Embrex, operating the Embrex machine, sanitizing trays, racks, buggies, and all other hatchery equipment.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Setup and prepare Embrex equipment for the day. (10%) 

  • Transfer eggs to Embrex machine for vaccination. (70%) 

  • Clean and sanitize racks, flats, buggies, the Embrex machine, and the Embrex room. (10%) 

  • Operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers, dispense formaldehyde, set eggs, and maintain a clean and organized work area. (10%) 

  • Must be able to pass a respirator fit test 

 

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety Requirements: 

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facilityAppropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the CompanyNo jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines  

Physical Demands and Work Environment   

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniquesMust be able to life/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 500-1000 lbs. Overhead lifting is required. Required to work on wet and slippery surfaces each day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hearSpecific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. 

  • Tools and Equipment: Must be proficient in the operation o the Embrex machine. 

  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments. 

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, full face respirator, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicalsEar plugs and earmuffs will be used as needed. 

  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde, disinfectant solutions, lubricants and Virocid. 

  • Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.  These include but are not limited to; Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment.  Team Members are expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
