Job Description

The Product Engineer is responsible for preparing design input and product specifications for Thin Films Deposition products based on customer high volume manufacturing or technology development requirements as well as upgrades and improvements on installed systems in the field.  Product Engineer needs to work directly with factory, process engineering, field service and technical support engineers as well as sales and marketing impacting revenue and developing future products. 
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Prepare design input of new high volume manufacturing (HVM) and development systems working with R&D and factory 
  • Prepare technical examination of customer system modification requests working with factory 
  • Support product lifetime from design, manufacturing, start up and process qualification by interfacing with field support team, process development team, factory and customer 
  • Work with factory and field teams for improvement and upgrade kits 
  • Assist field team and quality team on timely resolution of field issues 
  • Work with OEM suppliers in ensuring selection of improved system related parts 
  • Handle every system order as a project to ensure on time, high quality, and cost effective delivery of systems to TEL customers 
  • Job is done mostly in Austin regional office as well as in customer site 
  • Some duties will require some level of work in clean room environment, in awkward positions and/or high areas and/or require use of PPE equipment 
  • Periodic travel to the customer site is expected as well as to factory in Japan 

  
Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering field of study plus 5years of experience 
  • Previous experience in field engineering support or technical support of semiconductor equipment is preferred 
  • Excellent customer interface skills is required   
  • Experience in working with multifunctional teams in a project driven environment is preferable 
  • Must be able to travel, domestic and internationally (about 40%) 

Physical Demands and Work Conditions
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
