In addition to our legacy in antibiotics, infectious diseases and HIV represent around two-thirds of GSK’s current pipeline, and we have a growing portfolio of late-stage antimicrobials, with three products anticipated to launch on the US market by the end of 2026.
This role combines Sales, Marketing and P&L leadership responsibilities for the Anti-Infectives portfolio in the US business. You will orchestrate and lead the establishment of an Anti-Infective business in the US, with a goal of bringing to market novel new antibiotic or antifungal assets in a therapeutic space where there has been little innovation in the last 2+ decades. This will include building a team and leading both short-term execution and mid-to-long term strategy for a portfolio of 3+ assets – to secure access, drive uptake in the US market, and drive portfolio growth in new product segments.
You will have full P&L accountability for this portfolio and will provide strategic direction and managerial oversight to teams of marketers and customer facing roles.
You will also serve on the US Anti-infective & Respiratory business Leadership Team (AIR LT), and interface with the US Commercial Executive Team.
This role is based at one of our US commercial hub sites, in either Durham NC or Philadelphia PA, and candidates should expect to be present in the office for at least 2-3 days per week.
Senior management of an expanding marketing and sales function, and matrix leadership of cross-functional partners including medical, regulatory, legal, compliance.
Responsible for all aspects of commercialization for a portfolio of at least 3 launch products.
Develop, implement, and execute short-term and long-term strategy and business objectives for the Anti-infectives business.
Manage business operations end to end with complete responsibility for the top and bottom line, cash flow, and return on capital.
Drive business development, business transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Accountable for achieving forecast goals, and operating profit. Allocates SG&A budget via Operational Planning process, and monitors budget effectively throughout the year to minimize waste and maximize return.
Develop a strong leadership pipeline; recruit, develop and retain a high caliber team across diverse departments.
Develop and execute GSK Anti-infective Business strategy for the appropriate patients including input on medical, access and BD efforts to support the overall AIR business strategy.
Lead your team to effectively execute strategy and tactical plan by orchestrating partnerships and activities across a large matrix organization including Medical, Legal, Regulatory, Insights & Analytics, Market Access, Global Marketing, and other local and global teams.
Approve, in partnership with Forecasting and Finance, development of product volume and financial forecasts including Long Range Forecast, Annual Plan, and monthly Latest Estimates.
Drive market expansion of products within the US across all products in portfolio and aggressively implement strategies to grow presence in future indications.
Visibly lead our Values, talent management and engagement, and ensure strong individual career and leadership development plans.
Additionally, contribute to broader enterprise-wide initiatives and opportunities via the AIR LT as well as the US Commercial executive team.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level qualification in Science, Business, Finance, or Marketing.
Minimum of 15 years progressive experience, including both sales and marketing leadership within the pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrated experience of at least 2 years commercialising anti-biotic and/or anti-fungal pharmaceutical products in the US market.
P&L management experience, including developing product strategies and product positioning programs.
Senior leadership experience as a second-line leader.
Experience in both direct line and matrix management and serving on leadership teams.
MBA in Business Management / Sales / Marketing.
At least 4 years of commercial experience in the anti-infectives field.
Background in business unit leadership / general management.
Understanding of the US managed marketplace including the ability to exhibit outstanding business judgement as demonstrated by a track record in planning, marketing, sales and analytical roles.
Experience in market development and creating new market opportunities.
Comprehensive understanding of market dynamics unique to US anti-infective marketplace (for example, launching branded assets in a largely generic market; experience in hospital-based setting; market access experience).
Proven ability and credibility to influence at multiple levels to secure resources needed to build and support a new business capability.
Track record of success leading and embedding change and inspirationally leading your team through periods of change.
