What You’ll Do:

 Manage daily operations of the shop, personnel and heavy equipment and ensure heavy equipment is operational as needed as well as maintaining accurate documentation of service records and reports.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure heavy equipment is operational by scheduling maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Manage the daily operation of the heavy equipment, shop – including routine maintenance and repairs.

  • Maintain documentation of heavy equipment service records, including routine maintenance repairs.

  • Assist in the purchase of heavy equipment by reviewing specifications, testing equipment, and making recommendations, etc.

  • Purchase and inventory parts and supplies for the heavy equipment.

  • Ensure purchased parts and supplies stay within the annual budget – that includes securing the most competitive price for quality products discounts on trade-ins.

  • Involved in the hiring and discipline of shop personnel.

  • Train employees on new procedures, processes, equipment features - interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

  • Implement/assist as needed all current and new safety practices. Work with company Safety Director as needed. Assist with needed training for all required personnel.

  • Communicate with all managers on a regular basis as to needs, status and issues.

  • Ensure all maintenance locations practice good housekeeping, health, and safety standards per OSHA regulations.

  • Drive a variety of equipment when transporting equipment is needed.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers. Promote and maintain the professional image and reputation of the company and ensure timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction.

  •  Other duties as assigned by the fleet manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous fleet management experience, five to ten years preferably.

  • Must have good understanding of heavy equipment operation and function, rolling stock, bodies, and off-road equipment.

  • Must have a Minnesota Driver’s license – Class B or A

  • Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Inspectors Certificate.

  • DOT Medical Card.

  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational/leadership skills.

  • Must have good mechanical operational knowledge.

  • Must have good understanding of D.O.T. rules.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Experience/understanding of safe shop practices. Maintain good customer relationships, both internal and external.

  • Understanding of current D.O. T. laws to ensure equipment readiness and safety.

  • Working with vendors/suppliers to keep costs in balance.

  • Maintain positive attitude with all employees.

  • Keep up with industry changes to ensure product knowledge

  • Ability to read and comprehend basic to complex instructions, correspondence/manuals.

  • Must speak English with good communication skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole, fractions, and decimals as well as ratio, percent, and graphing.

  • Ability to make accurate, informed, reasonable decisions based on information available or knows from experience.

  • Ability to choose best costing/best value decisions based on available data, or calculated methods.

  • To prioritize your needs/equipment needs/personnel needs/company needs. Ensure all vital needs are addressed.

Salary: $95,000-$105,000 annually
