We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel who will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of supplier contracts in close partnership with our strategic sourcing team and other key business leaders. This role is pivotal in supporting our renewable energy purchasing efforts, ensuring legal compliance, and optimizing our supply chain operations. This role requires an energetic self-starting team member with a strong legal background in engineering, procurement and construction of energy related projects to perform legal analysis and manage outside counsel.

This position will be based in our office in Arlington, VA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex supplier and construction contracts for renewable energy components, including but not limited to solar modules, batteries, inverters, and high-voltage equipment. 
  • Collaborate with the strategic sourcing team to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with procurement and supply chain management. 
  • Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, enforcement, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. 
  • Develop and implement best practices for contract management, construction and procurement processes. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies and help to ensure that relevant knowledge is transferred to others on the team. 
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes related to supplier and construction contracts. 
  • Travel up to 50%

Qualifications: 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. 
  • Admission to the state bar. 
  • Minimum 5 + years of experience in supply chain procurement and construction, specifically within the energy infrastructure /  renewable energy sectors. 
  • Proven track record of successfully drafting and negotiating supplier and construction-related contracts. 
  • Strong understanding of the legal aspects of procurement and supply chain management. 
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
