Join our team as the new Senior Manager, Operational Transformation and lead the Operational Transformation suite of projects (direct and indirect across Ops business units), identifying opportunities and delivering benefits, including Fuel Efficiency, Strategic Cost Efficiency and Operational excellence across Jetstar Operations.

You will be accountable for:

  • Delivering key programs of work in line with the Operational Strategy whilst maintaining alignment with the safety and business goals of Jetstar Airways
  • Program governance, including an overall view of initiative/project/program's progress across operational business units
  • Delivery of the Jetstar Fuel an Operational Efficiency program and Jetstar’s contribution to the Qantas Group Operational Efficiency and Sustainability goals and targets. Delivering a target of 1.5% year on year efficiency improvements
  • Establishing a high performance framework for improved ways of working, effective decision making and performance management
  • A cultural shift across operational teams, embedding an always on cost culture, awareness of business cost drivers, low-cost best practice and developing a culture that celebrates cost innovation
  • Management of the Operations annual projects and investment planning process including the effective development of business cases, prioritisation of investment requests and inclusion in the budgeting process
  • Development of annual operational cost transformation targets for operational business units
  • Working with the Operational Leadership Team to lift capability in key areas, including ways of working, effective decision making, prioritization of work and performance management
  • Facilitate key Operational forums including crafting the strategic narrative, aligning key topics and managing the agenda pipeline
  • Coaching and developing a team of direct and indirect project managers, uplifting project, analytical, governance and diagnostic capability across Operational business units
  • Reporting of operational transformation projects, costs, benefits and progress
  • Representing Operations in cross functional business initiatives and transformation forums

To be considered, key skills will include: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in aviation operations, management consulting, investment banking, or in-house advisory preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to link strategic design and delivery
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high performing teams
  • Experience in leading change in a fast- paced operational environment
  • Experience catalysing and delivering large-scale change at a portfolio level
  • Financial and data analytics
  • Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering results
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to think big picture and understand potential outcomes
  • Excellent strategic and commercial skills
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
  • Continuous improvement and change management capabilities
