We do it all while committing to integrity, sustainability, and giving back to our communities. Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.

JR64353 Intern - Chemical Mechanical Planarization

Description: 3D NAND development leads to increasing reliance on CMP for tightening planarity requirements . New tool are evaluated to meet the escalating defect/removal rate/stability requirements.  In this project, students will have the hands-on opportunity to work on advanced industry-leading CMP tool and process control system, gain 1st hand experience of Semiconductor Fab operations and work with Process Engineering team regarding process development and process control methodology used in production environment.
Scope: In this project, the student will learn
Collaborate with process and equipment engineers to analyze and understand  sources of variance, the interactions between CMP process conditions and hardware design.
Gain proficiency in using statistical tools, fab-specific applications, and software for operations and data mining.
Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize both process and equipment performance.
Conduct process optimization for CMP addressing the various Wafer-to-Wafer variation (WtW) and within wafer Uniformity (WiW) issues
Deliverable: Characterization and production data analysis for newly introduced process step. Develop Best Known Method to reduce variation on this tool type and automate the process monitoring.
