Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008.  Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.  

The Trade Application Support engineer is a key member of the operations and investment teams supporting full trade lifecycle trade processes, including but not limited to: startup, live trading system monitoring and triage, outages, data cleanliness, reporting, and trade analysis functions. This person will work closely with the portfolio managers, software/network/systems engineers, and various operations teams within Verition. The candidate is required to have a strong technical background in Linux environment, experience in front and back office trade support, attention to detail, ability to multitask with changing requirements, and urgency to tackle live production issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Live trade lifecycle monitoring and management with attention to follow up tasks and postmortems
  • Post trade processing and resolving trade settlement issues in a timely manner
  • System integration with development teams and external counterparties
  • Software Deployment, Client Reporting Support, Investment and Operational Projects as needed
  • Ownership of production footprint, e.g. identify system improvements, automate daily tasks, document existing and new workflows

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Hands on experience with low latency market data and order management systems, internal or third party
  • Working knowledge of FIX trading protocol
  • Technical proficiency with Python, Linux, SQL, Excel, AWS, ability to debug scripts and code
  • DevOps experience with Jenkins, Ansible, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Docker is a plus
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with friendly demeanor
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities and meet deadlines, mentorship of junior members

Nice to Have:

  • Heightened awareness for production alerts and adhere to SLA for remediation
  • Experience in low latency trading platforms with integration utilizing FPGA's, microwave networks, multicast broadcast and point-to-point connections
  • Experience with New Relic/Zabbix/PagerDuty and application monitoring frameworks
  • Experience with Redwood RunMyJob and familiarity with Cron, or similar job scheduling frameworks
  • Ability to troubleshoot network, authentication, and file transfer issues
  • Familiar with AWS STS and S3, navigation on AWS console or equivalent cloud service
  • Ability to work independently and automate daily tasks as much as possible in Bash and Python
