Position Overview

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the optimising and planning of preventative maintenance schedules, ensure all required parts are available for each maintenance activity, manage the lubrication standards and breakdown analysis reports and meet customer & organisation expectations. The Maintenance Planner will be at the forefront of the Maximo CMMS for the Engineering department.

The position is primarily an office-based role, leading the high standard of preventative and corrective maintenance within the site Maintenance Team. The Maintenance Planner will work hand in hand with the Maintenance Lead, Manufacturing Shift Leads, Planners, and Stores Team to communicate and organise maintenance activities. The Maintenance Planner is to ensure that all maintenance compliance expectations are met in a timely manner.

This role is responsible to ensure coherence to business objectives within the department whilst ensuring that maintenance is fully functional and operating within all company and sector guidelines (validated states, like-for-like changes, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Works very closely with the Maintenance Lead to deliver all required KPIs.

  • Works collaboratively with Maintenance Lead, Manufacturing Shift Leads, and Planners to prioritise and align labour to all PM and TPM tasks.

  • Ensures site assets are compliant with Safety & Quality standards and metrics.

  • Hands-on role with direct leadership of maintenance technicians for the Deeside site, ensuring maximum visibility of team on the shop floor and providing strong service to our line-based teams.

  • Execute Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) driving down machine time loss supporting increased OEE year on year.

  • Drives maintenance compliance through safety & quality and drives team to real Root-Cause through effective analysis.

  • Prioritises data to communicate within the organisation - decisions based on actual figures rather than intuition or observation alone.

  • Lead the improvement and optimisation of all scheduled maintenance procedures

  • Implement predictive and preventative maintenance techniques and support Autonomous maintenance.

  • Manage planned maintenance execution and ensure 100% compliance

  • Works with other internal departments to prepare for the operational readiness of new and modified installations to ensure the safety, reliability, and maintainability of equipment.

  • Coordinate with other TPM stakeholders and sites to share practices and improve results

Understand financial metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Works with site leadership to develop and achieve aggressive improvement goals

Key Requirements

  • Time served engineer

  • Considerable knowledge and experience in manufacturing engineering is essential

  • Knowledge of control systems, programming, and technical fault finding is essential

  • Expert knowledge in mechanical/electrical and pneumatic systems

  • Previous experience of improvement projects and leading teams

  • Experience in a highly regulated maintenance environment is essential

  • Management experience within a maintenance framework would be a distinct advantage

  • Must be proficient with PC programs i.e. Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Statistical tools like Minitab or Jump, Project Mgmt (Microsoft Project, etc.), SAP.

  • Previous experience of utilising CMMS is essential (Maximo)

  • Self - Motivation and flexibility of job assignments

  • A blend of leadership and technical skills

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Results and data-orientated

  • Driven attitude with the ability to hold high working standards and challenge when required

  • Must be able to build a strong working relationship with employees on the shop floor and in the office

Qualifications/Education

  • Time served engineer (electrical & mechanical)

  • Craft technician qualifications i.e., NVQ 4, specified PLC qualification, C&G, ONC/HNC, BTEC in an appropriate Engineering Discipline, or equivalent.
