About the role and team:
Collaborating with the Head of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for data governance, overseeing all data analysis activities and making sure that data warehousing is properly handled. Your goal is to optimise data collection, data analysis, insights extraction and recommendations so as to improve performance across the business.
In addition to setting the analysis agenda and championing the use of data in making key business decisions, you’ll drive the performance of analytics solutions to impact overall business results while keeping costs in check. You will drive the day-to-day analytical approaches and identify solutions to particular problems, while leading and prioritising the business’s overall analytical needs and opportunities in the long-term.
In this highly collaborative role, you will facilitate joint brainstorming and team collaboration, working closely with management to establish departmental goals and strategies. You also work with junior data analytics and data warehouse personnel in defining the data collection needs of the business for the purpose of future work and also for guaranteeing that there is high data-quality and reliability across the business. You also collaborate with numerous departments across the business, aiding them in the proper use of data with a view to ensuring the delivery of desired operational results.
What You will accomplish:
Defining the business questions that need to be answered, identifying the most appropriate analytics models and readying relevant data sources for analysis
Defining and developing strategy with regard to the collection, manipulation, and analysis of data for various business functions/departments such as marketing, sales, operations, among others
Defining requirements and guiding the implementation of data collection / storage structures and models (knowledge of data governance principles and practices is a must)
Designing and implementing new data-driven approaches for the purpose of generating business insights through data analytics, information visualisation, and addressing unanswered business issues in a proactive manner
Developing and applying analytical algorithms and methods where possible with a view to driving and enhancing data systems and streamlining business processes, striving to improve the quality of analytics solutions on a consistent basis
Creating and delivering high quality analyses for all functions of the business, proactively and upon request
Defining metrics that track the business’s performance at different fronts (critical metric set), validating, interpreting, and creating reports and presentations for internal and external partners of all levels
Developing training programs meant for (1) improving the departmental heads’ understanding of the use of data, with a purpose to improve decision-making across the business; (2) enabling clients to access and read insights provided through our client-facing reporting systems.
What you will bring:
At least 15 years of working experience in a data analyst or data warehousing position, preferably working as a Senior Data Analyst in a fast-paced and complex business setting.
Shown Data Governance experience: knowledge of data governance principles and practices; proficiency in data modelling and data manipulation; unified view of customer data across tools and services used by the business
Shown and successful experience in the execution of data analytics initiatives, leading to the development of useful insights and the improvement of a business’s performance and driving top-line growth.
Passion for research and data; highly skilled in performing quantitative analyses on various business functions, for example, on consumer behaviour and trends.
Demonstrated experience building and leading quantitative and qualitative analyses
Superb communication skills in both written and verbal form, as the clarity of communications down the line will be a major contributing factor to the performance and effectiveness of our business, and directly impact client relations
Capability to create engaging, clear, concise and convincing reports and presentations for senior management and key partners.
Excellent digital literacy and highly proficient in the use of Ms Excel and PowerPoint
Skills in Salesforce or equivalent, SQL server reporting services, Tableau, analysis services, or any other data visualisation tools; competence in SQL is a plus
Self-motivated, proactively taking initiative and going beyond their call of duty
Helpful and service-oriented, with exceptional problem-solving skills
Works comfortably in a multi-functional setting, with business senior leaders, taking accountability for the business’s performance
Technical requirements
Sophisticated Excel is a must; knowledge of data visualisation tools such as R, Tableau, QlikView, or Domo a strong plus
Experience working with very large datasets; knowledge of distributed computing tools (Spark, MapReduce, Hive, Apache Mahout) is a plus
Experience and knowledge of innovative machine learning algorithms such as neural networks, support vector machines, ensemble models is a plus
