What is the Software Developer - C# and SQL - responsible for?

OSAM is hiring a Software Developer to join our Core Technology team. The ideal candidate will have solid computer science fundamentals, a demonstrated passion for solving problems with technology, and possess strong programming experience. This position is a hands-on role responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining firmwide trading-data, performance, risk, research, and investment applications, APIs, and visualization tools. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to interface directly with a wide range of OSAM’s investment teams.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Software Developer - C# and SQL?

  • Work directly with trading, engineering, and R&D departments to solve a wide variety of evolving data and emerging business requirements

  • Design, develop, and support significant components managing client portfolios

  • Develop applications in C#/SQL in a stable and scalable manner

  • Build robust data pipelines from many sources of varied levels of data quality, supporting business demands, ad-hoc client analytic requests, and the core production applications

  • Ensure all code, new and old, meets standards for coding, architecture, and operation

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technology field of study; advance degree is a +

  • Solid computer science fundamentals with knowledge of data structures / algorithms

  • 2-5 years of prior professional programming experience

  • Think logically and solve problems with demonstrated attention to detail

  • Understand proper source control practices (Git experience preferred)

  • Have excellent communication skills to be able to interact with a wide range of users ranging from very technical (quants) to non-technical

  • Demonstrate solid small-project management skills

  • Be a quick learner with the ability to adapt quickly and work in a dynamic environment

  • Have experience working in a financial services company, ideally in asset management

What technology skill sets are critical to the success of this role?

  • Must be proficient in C# and SQL (SQL Server / relational databases)

  • Have additional experience with: REST APIs, WCF, and WinForms

  • Be very comfortable developing in MS Visual Studio

  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code a +

  • Working knowledge developing with various Azure/cloud technologies a +

  • Experience with: DevExpress, Angular Framework, ASP.NET, Javascript a +

Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $110,000 and $140,000.
