About Your Role:
As an Assistant General Manager at one of Dollar Tree’s Distribution Centers, you’ll manage and coordinate receiving, order filling, shipping, and off-shift operations to ensure safe, productive, and cost-effective distribution. You’ll partner with the General Manager to meet operational, quality, and safety goals while mentoring and developing a team of supervisors and frontline associates. Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operations Management:
Ensure stores are supplied with ordered merchandise in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
Establish productivity and quality goals and ensure these goals are met
Assist the General Manager with short- and long-term planning, budget control, and implementation of operational policies, programs, and systems
Monitor, evaluate, and manage key productivity indicators to control costs
Review merchandise cuts, shortages, mislabels, and load quality to maintain quality and inventory accuracy
Monitor compliance with merchandise damage minimization efforts and proper handling of merchandise
Leadership & Talent Development:
Assist the General Manager with staff hiring, orientation, training, performance evaluations, pay increases, and associate development
Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and associates to support performance and growth
Partner with HR and management teams to carry out disciplinary actions or recommend termination as needed
Ensure department managers distribute work assignments fairly and apply company policies consistently
Share information and anticipate communication needs of all distribution center associates
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
Ensure a clean, safe, and accident-free working environment
Monitor results of quality, accuracy, safety, and housekeeping evaluations to ensure adherence to company standards
Your Required Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business administration or logistics preferred
Minimum of six (6) years of distribution center operations management experience or equivalent
Strong knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial, and communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to assess, manage, train, mentor, and develop talent
Strong analytical ability to gather and interpret information and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
Strong business acumen and decision-making skills
Ability to accept personal and departmental accountability
Proficiency with warehouse management systems (such as AS400 or Catalyst) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
Familiarity with internet and web-based applications
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field
