Financial Accountant, Assurant-GCC, India
We are seeking a self-driven & result oriented individual who is well-suited to a career in financial accounting and reporting and are detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
The individual will join our ANZ Controller’s team in GCC who will work closely with Finance and will be responsible for providing support in all ANZ accounting, financial reporting, and audit matters under Local GAAP & US GAAP and for supporting strong internal control, accuracy, and results in these areas for the entities/businesses responsible for.
This position will have a Remote Working, but we need candidates who are from Bangalore, Chennai & Hyderabad locations only.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
The General ledger accountant role is instrumental in helping the finance team ensure and maintain accurate data and ultimately will improve business processes and performance.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Manager GL and ANZ controller and wider finance team on accounting, audit, and financial reporting matters in accordance with the Local, US GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Provide support to the peers and the Manager GL in delivering the month end/ quarterly close process including the ANZ’s financial statement close process.
- Coordinate with the country accounting teams, plan closing activities and ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
- Support the Manager in preparing the US GAAP deliverables for quarterly and month end reporting.
- Perform BS reconciliations at the first level ensuring that the amounts reported are supported by the underlying documents.
- Support efforts to improve the close process for ANZ countries.
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register for assigned entities.
- Manage risks, including identification, mitigation and controls within department/ span of control by working with the Manager GL and the financial controller.
- Ensure positive engagement with stakeholders internally/ externally and operate as a key team player.
- Understand the base information for preparing BAS, FBT, GST and income tax returns for the relevant TWG, VSC and NUA entities.
- Engage team members by demonstrating company values and behaviors and ensuring key business messages are cascaded where relevant.
- Collaborate with the team to work on various Transformation/automation projects and ad hoc tasks as they arise.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Education:
- College degree in accounting, plus CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent designation required:
- CA /CPA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in Accounting/Finance role
- Effectively working with teams in different locations mostly in remote environment
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of insurance accounting principles.
- Strong IFRS knowledge, US GAAP knowledge Preferred.
- Strong audit management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage numerous deadlines and prioritize workload accordingly.
- Strong problem-solving skills to analyze the data, search for inconsistencies, reconcile inconsistencies and devise solutions to errors.
