Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance on employee relations matters across our hospital network. This role involves reviewing disciplinary actions, conducting thorough investigations, performing regular personnel file audits, and providing support to ensure regulatory and internal compliance. This position requires a deep understanding of employee relations, hospital operations, and HR best practices, with the ability to collaborate across various teams and locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review of Disciplinary Actions: Evaluate hospital disciplinary actions before delivery and revise or recommend changes based on established practices and legal standards.
- Investigations: Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations into employee issues, summarize findings, and make sound recommendations.
- Exit Interviews: Conduct exit interviews as directed and compile insights to support employee retention strategies.
- Personnel File Audits: Perform regular audits of personnel files to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Employee Relations Guidance: Provide expert guidance and support to Hospital HR Managers regarding employee relations best practices.
- Employee Relations Metrics: Develop and distribute employee relations-related metrics to track trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Employee Injury Follow-Up: Review employee injury reports and investigations, following up with hospital locations as necessary to ensure compliance and address any concerns.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Human Resources or related field) and 2 years experience OR equivalent experience in HR Generalist and/or Employee Relations Specialist role required.
- Must have HRIS use experience, Workday preferred.
- Human Resources certification strongly preferred (SPHR or HRCI).
- Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver’s license, and insurability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Functional knowledge of ADA, Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, USERRA, FLSA, and related state and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Demonstrates foundational knowledge of HR policies and practices.
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
- Ability to multi-task and be proactive in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel to different states as needed.
