POSITION PURPOSE

To ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day hotel operation in accordance with all company core standards and in line with company Hotels policies and procedures – achieving optimum financial returns for the company/owners, whilst ensuring highest levels of employee and guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Direct the function of Operations Management and planning in conjunction with the General Manager to meet the daily needs of the hotel, including, but not limited to, staffing, forecasting, controlling and supervising.  Ensure that all employees are trained for their positions to maximize service, production and efficiency; conduct employee performance evaluations as prescribed; control staffing, maximize profits and control costs. Carry out all policies established by MVW and operate the hotel in the absence of the General Manager, following internal, regional and MVW policies and procedures; prepare reports requested by the General Manager, Area Managing Director and MVW .

  • Clearly describe, assign, and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various sub-departments under his/her supervision; conduct appropriate meetings and coordinate with the other department heads to ensure that proper communication leads to guest satisfaction and maximum profit and productivity.

  • Direct and coordinate with the Director of Rooms to ensure that Front Office and housekeeping procedures are established to maximize production, regulate linen and housekeeping supplies and to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.  Certify that procedures and controls are implemented for the laundry operation

  • Direct and coordinate with the Director, Engineering to ensure that the property is maintained and that all mechanical equipment is in good working order; ensure the implementation of a preventative maintenance system, work-order system, maintenance weeks, property reserve plan and energy conservation program

  •  Direct and coordinate with the Director, Food & Beverage the food and beverage operations of the hotel to ensure maximum profits, at the highest standard of service and quality, including food production, equipment use and control, banquet service, room service, beverage service, restaurant service and food and beverage purchasing.  Ensure the cleanliness of all food and beverage facilities including the restaurant, lounges, banquet rooms, storage rooms and kitchen.

  • Works closely with the Director of Human Resources ensuring the HR policies respect and application within his work frame and the social climate follow up

  • Lead the operational team of the hotel with the objective to maximize efficiency and to achieve the highest volume of revenues and EBITDA

  • Together with the department heads, take a leading role in positively representing the company with guests, reinforcing a customer focused approach to hotel operations at all times

  • Work closely with the Director of Finance to establish annual hotel operating plans, identifying and responding to margin and cost improvement opportunities

  • Attract, develop and retain an effective team of department heads and employees, whilst adhering to all company and legal standards

  • Monitor and overview consistent training and development plans for all employees to ensure positive guest experience, high employee morale and strategic continuity planning within the hotel and the company

  • Implement and adhere to company standard policies, systems and procedures relating to hotel operations, including maintenance, environmental health and safety systems and quality standards

  • Provide clear leadership for quality and PROGRESS initiatives aligned with business goals and objectives, maintaining close liaison and support for team and Change Agent activities.

  • Monitor employee morale and turnover, proactively supporting the Employee Satisfaction process and ensuring action plans are established and followed up to address issues

  • Ensure that building and plant are maintained to company and legal standards – prepare Capital Plan including all necessary investments to guarantee short and long term standards with a special emphasis on guest experience and the hotels positioning in the market environment.

  • Ensure a cost effective, innovative and quality rooms/food and beverage operation in the hotel through effective product planning, marketing and product presentation

  • Monitor purchasing activities and promote actions to achieve best value for money while maintaining corporate and divisional standards

  • Establish positive contacts within company internal organization to ensure best use of company’s skills, services and professional knowledge

  • Institute a clear communication strategy within the hotel and supporting teams to ensure effective sharing and updating of information throughout the property, including a structured and active meetings and briefings process

  • Identify opportunities for resources and facilities to be shared between the properties and implement best practice
