Job Description

SmartRent is looking to hire a Manager, Collections to join our growing accounting team. In this role you will monitor and analyze the performance of the collections team, implementing measures to improve productivity.  You will also be responsible for reviewing and evaluating delinquent accounts, determining appropriate actions to be taken in accordance with company policies. The ideal candidate should be comfortable being hands-on with collections duties, while also managing a team. In this position, you will report to our Director, Accounts Receivable and work out of our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and support collections team in day to day operations & handle any escalations, including interacting directly with customers when needed.
  • Review aging reports regularly & implement processes to minimize outstanding balances.
  • Research discrepancies getting to the root cause for non-payment and resolving any on-going issues.
  • Evaluate and prioritize outstanding accounts, determining appropriate collection actions and strategies.
  • Work with internal legal counsel when necessary on severely past due accounts.
  • Efficiently report collections concerns and status to management.
  • Identify strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Hire, coach and develop a team of direct reports for the collections function.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
  • Establish, monitor and analyze KPIs to optimize the accuracy and efficiency of collections.
  • Assist with other accounting functions, as needed, such as customer invoicing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years experience in B2B collections.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and a proven track record of implementing efficient processes related to collections.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with NetSuite and 360 Subscription Billing.
  • Knowledge and experience with Salesforce.
  • Experience working in the multifamily property or construction industries.
  • Experience working for a SaaS (Software as a Service) company.
