Risk Control

Manages the Risk Control team, providing input to Senior Manager, Risk Control on staff performance and development. Monitors expenses and provides input on compensation, bonuses, and budgetary matters as well as performance measurements. Acts as Risk Control liaison to local business partners. Provides technical advice and account information to underwriting business partners for risk assessment and analysis.
What Will You Do?
- Manages work assignments for Risk Control staff and leverages specialist involvement when required.
- Conducts co-surveys and survey/file reviews with local staff as required by our formal QA process. Provides regular feedback and mentoring regarding performance and improvement needs.
- Manages staff performance including annual and half yearly performance reviews. Identifies development opportunities and resources, working with each staff member to construct individual development plans.
- Works with Senior Manager, Risk Control to maintain and ensure proper staffing resource to meet business needs.
- Maintain timely, frequent and relevant communications with the Senior Manager, Risk Control. Provide regular updates on staff performance.
- Builds and maintains productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to all businesses, with the broker/agent community, with claims, with other Risk Control staff, and with clients.
- Provide education and training necessary to keep our business partners current with available RC products and services.
- Direct activities focused on meeting RC annual business plan.
- May conduct risk control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection.
- Serve as a resource to underwriters/business unit management in development of complex deals. Participate in sales and marketing presentations to potential insureds as required.
- Conducts research for underwriters or clients on class of business, operations or any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.
- Maintains current knowledge of regulatory environment and emerging safety issues.
- Understands and applies the large account servicing strategies where appropriate, helping clients develop ongoing programmes for continuous safety improvement.
- Operates in accordance with Travelers policies, procedures and controls (including audit requirements) at all times.
- Promotes Travelers products and philosophy by regular visits to clients' premises, maximising the opportunities for growth and profit of the commercial business.

- Continually looking for improvement both from a personal and business perspective.
What is a Must Have?
- Experience in safety, risk control, or related fields including but not limited to construction, manufacturing or relevant military experience or bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Must be able to attain appropriate certification to meet legal requirements where applicable.
