As a part of the diverse and hardworking refurbishment team, you will lead a team of Maintenance Supervisors to execute front line refurbishment operations of the New Glenn 1st Stage. You will perform validation and verification planning for engineering defined refurbishment processes. You will champion specific refurbishment processes based on requirements from the refurbishment engineering team. On this team, you will have the ability to impact the industry by shaping New Glenn’s reusability operating plan. This role will require you to interact with the vehicle to proactively eliminate barriers and troubleshoot unforeseen technical problems. Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage daily execution of scheduled and unscheduled refurbishment tasks to ensure operational performance expectations and metrics (e.g., technical dispatch reliability, daily completion rates, etc.)  and completion of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, in accordance with Blue Origin’s documented Policies and procedures
  • Support Daily production meetings, and provide status to key stakeholders
  • Ensure adequate resources of properly trained and qualified personnel are available for all refurbishment activities.
  • Ensure personnel attend and complete scheduled training to expand personnel skill levels, and ensure training is current prior to performing the functions and tasks of their position.
  • Champion and promote a safety and compliance first culture.
  • Participate and support Refurbishment system self-audits and corrective actions, as required.
  • Maintain operational engagement and motivate team members to deliver optimal operational performance and quality.
  • Interface and communicate with other Blue Origin departments and business units to ensure mutual success on mission objectives.
  • Ensure the quality and cost effectiveness of all work performed by the maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate with other refurbishment and Launch Operations leaders to assure a unified organization.
  • Actively participate in your teams annual, mid-Year reviews and Calibration sessions
  • Assist with authoring procedural guidance, manuals, work order review and defined processes.

Qualifications:

  • Required (10) years of prior experience in the fields of Maintenance/ repair/ overhaul or fabrication of commercial aircraft, military aircraft, or space vehicles.
  • Required (5) Years of prior Technical Management/supervisory experience (commercial aircraft, military aircraft, or space vehicle)
  • Experience with the development/continuous improvement of maintenance programs (commercial aircraft, military aircraft, or space vehicle)
  • Practical experience with flown hardware, in the fields of avionics, structures, Software, Hardware systems and engines (commercial aircraft, military aircraft, or space vehicle)
  • Strong safety record and mindset, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical tests and operations.
  • Demonstrated scheduling, planning, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Travel periodically (Less than 30%)
  • Support Manufacturing Operations teams/ New Glenn Production Build as needed.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.
  • Work off-shift, extended hours, and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to gain U.S. Space force DBIDS access credentials.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, or technical degree
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
  • Familiar working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, industry best practices, OSHA requirements
  • Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, and 5-S lean process awareness.
  • Experience with aerospace vehicle systems and manufacturing technologies.
  • Advanced degree, certification, and/or training in a directly related field.
  • Experience working in a product design or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in new or startup operational environments.
  • Proficiency in business and engineering software (i.e., MSOffice, Jules, Aeon, Windchill, PLM)
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
