About This Opportunity  

Join us at the University of Queensland (UQ) as a Research Contracts Officer, where you will be a driving force in facilitating impactful research initiatives. In this key role, you will ensure that our researchers can efficiently engage with external partners through the timely development and review of research-related agreements.

As the Research Contracts Officer, you will provide exceptional support to the UQ research community by managing a variety of standard-form contracts, including but not limited to  confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, research services agreements and consultancy contracts, in compliance with UQ policies. Your expertise will be vital in swiftly reviewing terms and conditions, offering timely guidance to researchers, and effectively mitigating risk exposure for the University.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the UQ research community in the development, administration and processing of standard research and consultancy contracts and agreements, ensuring alignment with UQ’s policies and risk management principles.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service coupled with a proactive attitude to meet and exceed the needs of the customer, providing subject matter expertise and timely advice.

  • Utilising and maintaining systems and procedures related to the processing of contracts and agreements and proactively contributing to the development of internal processes and service delivery standards in relation to research  contracts.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly to enquiries, understanding the needs of the research community, and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative research environment.

About You

  • Relevant qualifications (or demonstrated progress towards relevant qualifications) and/or work experience in administration and/or program or project management, with previous experience in contract administration or contract support being highly valued.

  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting, reviewing, and administering documents, along with the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures in a complex environment.

  • A strong commitment to delivering high quality, professional, and customer-focused services to clients, particularly in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines.

  • Proven problem-solving skills and a high degree of initiative, with a track record of independently managing tasks and driving projects to completion.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, plan administrative activities, and monitor and review procedures to ensure efficient operations.

  • Demonstrated data interpretation and analytical skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and recommend solutions to challenging issues.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with staff across various settings, while also being capable of working independently as needed.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
