Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Operating Unit Business Manager to join us in the pursuit of top-tier financial performance in the Advanced Weapon Business Unit. The position is based out of based out of Northridge, CA and will report to the Business Unit Director of Business Management.
Responsibilities and essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Partner with the Operating Unit Director, Program Managers, and functional organizations to ensure contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon cost and schedule parameters and government cost control guidelines.
- Coordinate and lead all business management functions including structural adherence to contracts, cost strategy, proposal development, accounting, program planning & financial control, financial planning and program scheduling
- Manage a team of Business Managers and Analysts to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial processes for the portfolio
- Develop business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such as the Long Range Strategic Plan and the Annual Operating Plan.
- Oversee key line forecasting, work authorization, implementation of EV reporting, program budgeting, estimate at complete development, and various financial reporting activities.
- Lead the Quarterly EAC process to include identification of risks / opportunities and determine backlog and margin booking rates.
- Develop proposals from draft RFP to award, including review of RFP, FAR clauses, coordination with subcontractor flow-downs, basis of estimates, indirect rates, pricing strategies, cash management, negotiation strategy and oversight, and presenting to Senior Management.
- Manage risks with multiple contract types from both an execution and financial perspective.
- Mentor junior Business Managers and develop professional and management talent within the operating unit.
- Internal and external audit support
- Support the development of presentations for, and occasionally brief to, Division/Sector/Corporate leadership
- Modeling and analytics support for business development pipeline reviews, business management annual operating plan analysis and investment planning
- Interface with business, program, and corporate personnel
- Interface with geographically disbursed business, program, and sector personnel
- Support initiatives and ad hoc requests from Division, Sector, and Corporate leadership
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Data Science with a minimum of 10 years applicable experience, or Master’s degree with 8 years of industry related experience in finance, accounting and program control.
- Experience with CostPoint, IBM Cognos software database software, and COBRA
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reporting, and analysis, at DOD program and portfolio levels
- Earned Value and financial reporting experience on a variety of contract types
- Experience with program proposals, cost and schedule control, program budgeting and forecasting for both Major DoD ACAT and International Programs
- Familiarity with program startup efforts and support of the Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) and required data submittals
- The ability to lead and coordinate IBRs on suppliers when required.
- Experience in the development of detailed business case analysis and return on investment analysis for DOD portfolios
- Familiarity with the risk management process and the development of S-Curve modeling for DOD portfolios
- Prior experience with Financial Planning and Reporting including supporting monthly actuals and forecasts, Annual Operating Plans, and Long-Range Strategic Plans
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS
- Prior experience as a Organizational Manager in the Aerospace & Defense industry environment
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Public Accounting experience (each year of "Big 4" or relevant Public Accounting experience counts for 2 years of experience above)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing licensure.
- Strong GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience
- Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a keen attention to detail
Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
