TechCrunch is looking for a strategic, data-driven, and results-oriented marketer to join the TechCrunch team in promoting our event products and services. The TechCrunch marketing team is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of the TechCrunch portfolio of owned and operated events - including TechCrunch Disrupt, Early Stage, StrictlyVC, and live podcast broadcasts - as well as partnered events hosted in-person and virtually. The team works closely with external agencies and internal stakeholders to drive audience acquisition, including revenue, re-engagement, and optimizing marketing program performance across several digital channels.

Job Description:

The TechCrunch Events, Marketing Manager is responsible for developing integrated marketing initiatives that build awareness, drive revenue, and provide sales enablement for TechCrunch event products. Specifically this role will develop go-to-market strategies and execute audience acquisition marketing programs including Product, Operations, Creative Services, PR, and Finance to achieve program objectives. This role will report to the Director of Marketing, TechCrunch.

Responsibilities:

  • Go-to-market: Develop the strategy for launching events to the public to drive awareness and audience demand, including product positioning, pricing, persona development, messaging, timeline planning, creative campaign development, communications (website, social, email, partnerships), sales materials, and internal communications.

  • Marketing Program Management: as part of the overall revenue plan, develop and execute programs that drive revenue, increase market awareness, and help educate the community about event products. 

  • Work closely with key external and internal agencies to execute tactical campaigns, develop visual assets, create messaging to communicate event value propositions, and engage net-new audiences

  • Create and manage content calendar and timeline including setting benchmarks and reporting status regularly 

  • Manage internal status communications and develop creative approaches for continuous optimization 

  • Work cross-functionally across the organization and with outside partners to reach goals.

Requirements:

  • Must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • 5+ years of marketing experience primarily in B2C marketing for event products or other consumer products 

  • Knowledge of general marketing approaches and how they are used to drive sales behavior including tactical campaign management experience of email, social, and display media channels

  • Ability to develop and manage comprehensive marketing plans for a wide breadth of audiences from development of plan, through execution and measurement of success

  • Ability to develop and execute on both broad and targeted creative marketing tactics to grow revenue, increase market awareness, and enhance our brand to our core audience

  • Ability to manage and execute a variety of projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and influential communication skills are critical to effectively lead and participate on cross-functional teams:  provide leadership, develop and manage project plans, prioritize activities

  • Experience with executing campaigns on CRM systems, preferably Marketo and Hubspot

Additional Skills:

  • Must be capable of presenting to and working with all levels of an organization, including at the VP level

  • Strong analytical capabilities, a solid understanding of key financial and business metrics, and the ability to apply creative insights to analytical data

  • Ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks and communicate efficiently with team members remotely across several time zones

  • Strong computer skills including Google Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Creative, high positive energy, and an ability to execute

The compensation for this position ranges from $82,125.00 - $171,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
