Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) is at the forefront of many aspects of the strategy and developing an ambitious program of activity. The M&BD team is well-established and highly regarded internally and in the market. The team is divided into several key areas: Practice M&BD, Client Development and Industry Sector, Corporate Communications (Public Relations/Internal Communications, Brand, Design, Events, Content, and Intranet), Pitches and Pursuits, and Strategy. There are also regional M&BD teams in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific with whom this role will interact.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role will provide day-to-day support to the Global Internal Communications team and may be expected to work on several critical tasks for the broader Corporate Communications function occasionally.

The candidate should possess the intellect, confidence, and maturity to work within a partnership environment and maintain good working relationships with Business Development team members and lawyers. The tasks this role includes are hugely varied and require good prioritization skills and a positive attitude.

This an excellent opportunity for an energetic and engaged junior-mid level communications professional who wants to broaden their capabilities as an Internal Communications professional with an experienced team. A willingness to build a solid technical knowledge of systems and processes that the team uses is essential.  

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Help support the Internal Communications team’s efforts to develop and deploy strategies that shape our approach to internal communications around the firm’s strategy, culture, and vision to drive people engagement and support
  • Develop and execute internal communications campaigns and employee engagement strategies, which drive awareness and understanding of the firm's strategic priorities
  • Assist in the tracking and development of performance metrics and reports to gauge the effectiveness of internal communications strategies
  • Maintain internal communications channels, including a weekly newsletter, digital screens, and the intranet
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to draft talking points and other communications
  • Draft content for employee engagement events or activities (e.g., town halls)
  • Help manage internal communications and develop appropriate communications and action plans driven by key findings
  • Ensure that all internal communications reflect the brand and culture of the firm, both in content and tone
  • The day-to-day collaboration with the wider Internal Communications team, advising and contributing content for our various content streams
  • Act as an ambassador for the communications team and the wider Marketing and Business Development function
  • Be flexible and support major ad-hoc projects
  • Help bring creative approaches to a results-driven organization

QUALIFICATIONS

The Internal Communications Specialist will have a proven track record of developing and executing internal communications and employee engagement events or activities, including experience in a multifaceted organization of similar size and complexity. S/he will have a good understanding of and/or the proven ability and motivation to quickly learn about the industry and work effectively with multiple key stakeholders across the firm.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • Three (3)+ years of internal communications experience preferred, preferably in a law firm or large, complex, multinational professional services environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality deliverables while coordinating multiple projects within a matrix organization
  • Proficiency in utilizing Office 365 tools (Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, or equivalent design software

HOURS

Core hours are Monday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and additional hours may be required.

This position is posted in multiple locations.  In Washington, DC the annualized salary range for this position is $72,550 to $112,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.  In New York, the annualized salary range for this position is $78,000 to $120,500 depending on the candidate’s overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.  In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
