  • Initial production of the quarterly tax provisions for US GAAP reporting, and liaison with the US tax team.
  • Drafting UK statutory tax information and disclosures as part of the year-end process.
  • Drafting of corporate tax computations and filings and associated matters (e.g. tax payments, transfer pricing,  Senior Accounting Officer, withholding taxes etc).
  • Drafting of tax information and documents for Lloyd’s centrally-prepared returns.
  • Assisting with forecasting tax-payments.
  • Liaison with/ management of internal teams, HMRC, external auditors and advisers.
  • Support for Certificates of UK Tax Residence and FATCA processes.
  • Support with/ management of tax investigations.
  • Input to UK / group M&A/ projects.
  • Awareness of existing/ analysis of new UK and worldwide tax developments, and input to advice on UK and group implications.
  • Contributing to team planning, budgeting and organisation.

Role Requirements

  • The ability to independently organise, prioritise and manage several strands work to make best use of available resource to produce coherent, timely outcomes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate tax-technical issues to a non-tax audience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to developing strong working relationships with all stakeholders and the ability to manage conflicting views.
  • Confidence to ask questions/ challenge information provided and initiative especially in dealing with areas of ambiguity.
  • A proactive attitude to identifying problems/ better ways of working and recommending/ implementing solutions.
  • A willingness to challenge yourself to quickly adapt to unfamiliar issues, systems and processes. 

Qualifications

Accounting/ tax qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/ATT/CTA) preferred but not essential if proven to operate at the appropriate level

Experience

  • UK insurance tax compliance experience – desired
  • Lloyd’s tax experience compliance – desired
  • US GAAP financial reporting experience (including managing GAAP adjustments) – desired 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office – essential
