Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Provost for Inclusive Excellence and the Lead PI for AIM for Equity, the Program Manager will help to plan, organize, and oversee the regular operations and activities of the grant programs; develop, prepare, and administer the annual preliminary budget for the grant; develop, prepare and administer the annual (and other intermittent, as needed) NSF reports for the grant; ensure that AIM for Equity is in compliance with NSF and federal regulations; and train, supervise and evaluate the performance of reporting personnel (including program coordinator, research technicians, and graduate students.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the operations and activities of the AIM for Equity grant; Provides data analysis and research (qualitative and/or quantitative) skills, information, and assistance to the AIM for Equity PI team, senior personnel, internal advisory board, and external advisory board regarding assigned functions; Tracks, gathers, and develops all necessary materials required for the development of initial and sequential drafts and final submission of the annual and special reports; Supports the PI with preparing comprehensive narrative and statistical analysis for the development of initial and sequential drafts and final submission of required annual and special reports.

  • Manages and leads all administrative aspects of the overall grant; Manages all aspects of all NSF-related site/campus visits; Implements, supports, initiates, and participates in all AIM for Equity activities (whose objectives are to increase equity and promote a culture of reciprocity, collective responsibility, inclusiveness, respect, and belonging for faculty at WashU);  In collaboration with the AIM for Equity PI team and senior personnel, designs,manages, maintains and implements effective grant activities for WashU leadership and faculty; Organizes programs that promote thriving and well-being for all faculty from all intersectional social identities; Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs; Serves as an advocate for a culture of mindfulness, gender and racial equity, and accessibility on and off campus.

  • Collaborates and advises schools, departments, and program leaders on how to develop and implement equitable faculty policies;  Initiates relationships and partnerships, on and off campus, to enhance the services and support provided to WashU faculty through the grant; Partners with other administrators, personnel, faculty, campus leaders and consultants to coordinate activities and programs, resolves issues and conflicts and exchanges information; Makes recommendations to the AIM for Equity PI team regarding potential improvements for the grant and/or the Center’s activities.

  • Creates a high-functioning and equity-centered work environment in the AIM for Equity Center; Serves as primary lead of all center staff and functions; Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of reporting personnel; Reviews and approves time worked, as necessary.

  • Manages the annual budget and financial activities for the grant; Analyzes and reviews budgetary and financially relevant data; Oversees and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established regulations; Initiates and submits contracts for consultant services; Liaises with AIM for Equity team members, HR, and the Office of the Provost to administer HR and budgeting processes.

  • Performs other duties and assists with other projects, as assigned.

The Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) AIM (Advancing Intersectionality through civic Mindfulness) for Equity Center seeks a Program Manager to provide multi-level and multi-faceted support for our new faculty programs and activities.  This National Science Foundation ADVANCE- Institutional Transformation grant-funded program focuses on intersectional gender equity for STEM faculty at WashU.  In collaboration with the Office of the Provost, the new AIM for Equity Center will develop and implement faculty development and leadership programs and promote equitable faculty policies and practices centered in mindful approaches. We are seeking an experienced equity-centered and highly collaborative professional to support internal operations for the AIM for Equity Center and its engagement with multiple stakeholders – including the PI team/senior personnel, internal/external advisory boards, campus leaders, faculty members, and consultants. The selected candidate for this position will need to be a key partner in the Center’s launch, establish an independent workflow, exercise professional judgement, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment where needs and priorities are fluid. As the Center is being established, they will serve as the AIM for Equity staff lead on WashU’s policies and procedures, funds management, and office management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with equity-centered projects focused on gender and/or race. 
  • Work experience partnering and/or collaborating with academic leaders and faculty across multiple and diverse units across a college or university campus.
  • Experience working on a NSF ADVANCE grant/program and/or federal grant; and/or experience as the leader on an institutional grant/project.
  • Experience conducting social science research studies.

Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
