Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy (CLA), which includes development of curriculum, creation of experiential learning opportunities, execution of events and cultivation of mentors and donors.

Salary & Benefits:

$52,000 - $57,000, commensurate with experience

Primary Duties:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy, including recruiting, interviewing, and incorporating fellow candidates and mentors each year, and providing supervision to assigned staff and graduate students.

  • Plan and implement CLA events including orientations, Wheelhouse Talks, Leader Labs, and other leadership activities with an emphasis on excellent content and delivery.

  • Prepare Cook Leadership Academy proposals and reports to present at Hauenstein Center Advisory Cabinet meetings.

  • Coordinate and manage the Cook Leadership Academy’s Independent Initiative process, working with a subcommittee from the advisory cabinet to make funding decisions for CLA fellow candidate proposals.

  • Manage the selection process of named leadership fellows and apprise donors.

  • Provide guidance and direction for the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy Lead Fellows and develop and manage annual leadership fellow evaluations.

  • Engage CLA fellow candidates and alumni, documenting their stories to enhance the Hauenstein Center marketing materials, networking strength, and visibility in the community.

  • Develop an annual program budget and assist with funding proposals.

  • Facilitate relationships with campus partners and offices.

  • Participate in the planning and support of Hauenstein Center events.

  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience.

  • Experience managing and supervising teams and/or projects.

  • Formal training or coursework in leadership.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills along with considerable interaction with the public.

  • Ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines, manage several projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for events.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Experience in higher education. 

  • Coursework in student affairs or related discipline.

  • Experience working with and supporting the needs of a diverse student body.

  • Experience with public speaking.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel and evening/weekend work may be required.
