Purpose and Scope:

The Recreation Equipment Custodian will support recreation service requirements to include the operation of company stores, the armed forces network (AFN), a rescue boat recreation program, swimming pool operations, barber and hair stylist services, a base library (with commercial internet access), a base gym, movie theater services, and other recreational facilities.  This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate a check-out/check-in system for use of athletic and recreation equipment by authorized members during operational hours of the facilities for which equipment is being checked out.
  • Assist the Government equipment custodian with his/her responsibilities in accordance with AFI 23-101 and as outlined in DAFI 23-201.
  • Generate Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) work orders on equipment inspections and repair.
  • Perform a quarterly inventory of all recreation equipment.
  • Provide a monthly status report of each recreation activity.
  • Any other items as directed or as outlined in PWS
  • Maintain and provide recommendations on how to improve recreation facilities, e.g., athletic fields, swimming pool, tennis courts, racquetball courts, etc.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office products
  • High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. 
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required. 
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
  • Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. 
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
