Job Overview

As the Engineering Manager, you will play a vital role within the Linxon regional Engineering Team, overseeing and enhancing the execution of engineering functions across various projects and tenders. Focusing primarily on Utility transmission segment, you will lead a skilled team working on a diverse range of substation projects. Your responsibilities will centre on project and tender engineering activities, specifically within the scope of HV-substation design for our EPC HV projects. Serving as the technical lead, you will ensure the electro-mechanical design meets customer needs, legislative demands, and national standards, all while managing project budgets and timelines.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead large and complex EHV/HV Air & Gas Insulated Substation (AIS & GIS) projects.
  • Provide input for civil designs and coordinate interfaces among construction planning, steel structure engineering, protection and control systems, auxiliary power systems, and equipment suppliers.
  • Engage in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, addressing site queries and overseeing actions through to as-built documentation.
  • Manage engineering budget, schedule, forecast, and conduct risk & change management activities.

Technical Solutions:

  • Develop technical solutions for substations, including Single Line diagrams, layouts, detail drawings, and associated documentation, adhering to applicable standards and customer specifications.
  • Conceptualize technical designs, specifications, equipment selection, and connection materials, considering costs, quality, international standards, and materials.
  • Provide technical calculations, purchasing specifications, and schedules for project equipment.
  • Prepare bill of quantities, cost estimations, and deviations for technical solutions.
  • Review Suppliers' designs, attend factory acceptance tests, and provide technical support for tender scheme options and related project scope documents.

Education, Experience & Skills Required:

  • BSc or MSc in an engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in delivering HV substation projects in Ireland, adhering to ESB/Eirgrid standards and requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of national engineering standards.
  • Expert knowledge in Substation design, Layouts, Primary design & calculations, Grounding & Lightning design, Steel design inputs, transformers, HV & MV Switchgear systems.
  • Familiarity with system studies such as load flow, short circuit calculation, insulation coordination; Single Line Diagrams, CT/VT calculations, Auxiliary Power Systems, and power cables.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering relevant to substation construction is advantageous.
  • Experience in Installation & Commissioning is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with knowledge in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Results-oriented team player with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with external and internal parties in a multicultural environment.
