The Opportunity
Fidelity Private Wealth is bringing the investment capabilities and strength of Fidelity to our private wealth clients. That means combining our world class research and investment management expertise to help our clients accomplish their wealth goals. The Investment Management Group is responsible for providing the Private Wealth Portfolio Management team investment research, due diligence support on ‘know your product’ regulations, produce investment commentary and assist with portfolio construction and oversight. The successful candidate requires exceptional business acumen paired with strong analytical/communication skills to help facilitate the development and adoption of effective solutions for the wealth portfolio management.
What You Will Do
Product Research
Build, maintain and communicate an expert level of knowledge investment research on the investments held by private wealth clients, including the capital markets in which they invest.
Maintain appropriate ‘know-your-product’ documentation for investment solutions leveraged by the private wealth PM team.
Ensure that investments utilized by Private Wealth continue to deliver on their stated investment objective and strategies.
Conduct ongoing product research to ensure Private Wealth owns best in class investments for our clients.
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of core private wealth investments, including any strengths or weaknesses.
Maintain accurate investment positioning within our portfolios on the dimensions of portfolio manager style, process, product attributes, and characteristics.
Monitor assigned products adherence with its stated investment objective and guidelines
Investment & Portfolio Optimization
Ensure that Private Wealth portfolios and investments are optimally positioned for success
Demonstrate a high level of investment product, market, and competitive investment category expertise.
Understand and communicate the key drivers of investment success, suitability for a range of investment portfolios, ensuring our strategies support long term growth for private wealth clients.
Develop and be able to articulate a well-supported view of the future of the category or asset class
Client Communication Support
Prepare and review investment presentations for existing and potential private wealth clients.
Support relationship management team members on ad hoc client queries for investment information.
Assist in the development and analysis of thought leadership pieces for private wealth clients and prospects.
Occasionally participate in client interactions on private wealth investments.
Ensure that our investments are supported with strong baseline documentation and/or collateral that clearly and accurately reflects the investment merits of each position in our portfolios including client facing presentation materials.
Deliver high quality product and portfolio manager commentaries both in periodic and ad hoc reports.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong working relations with assigned investment staff, relationship management teams.
Coordinate with internal/external investment management business partners (i.e. Trading, operations, capital markets, relationship managers, dealer compliance) on matters as necessary, including assisting with resolution of issues.
Demonstrate a high level of internal client service with timely and appropriate responses to all reasonable relationship manager team member requests for information on our investments.
Provide portfolio managers with competitive analysis and intelligence to help ensure that investments are optimally positioned to meet client goals.
Provide portfolio managers with support for marketing and client interactions specifically designed to meet the needs of audience.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 5+ years of investment management industry experience
Prior experience in financial services sales and/or marketing is an asset
University degree in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, or another related field or equivalent work experience
Significant exposure to Investment management due diligence and investment manager research.
Exposure to portfolio management, trading, compliance and/or investment operations for an asset manager or related entity
CFA Level 1 or CIM is a must have
Designations such as an MBA/CFA is an asset
Programming designation is an asset
What You Will Bring
Excellent understanding of investment product structures covering multiple asset classes (equity, fixed income, alternative funds).
Excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate medium to complex issues to a variety of audiences, including portfolio managers, traders and clients.
Quick learner and solutions-oriented problem solver
Experience with middle- and back-office operations, procedures, and policies
Experience working with complex software applications in the financial services industry that support portfolio management, trading, and compliance e.g., DataPhile, Harmony, Bloomberg, etc.
Solid analytical and technical skills, including an advanced level understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access, VBA, SQL.
Experience with programming languages such as Python is an asset
Able to independently work to understand and resolve issues and projects as they arise
