Fortrea is seeking a Vice President, Head of Global Tax, reporting to our CFO, to lead our Global Tax function for our newly spun-out public company, Fortrea. This leader will provide US and international tax planning and strategic tax leadership.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated executive leadership acumen, deep technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills, and excellent attention to detail. In this role, you will need to be a self-starter who is skillful in analyzing complex tax issues, developing tax planning strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional business partners with varying backgrounds and levels of experience.

A successful candidate will be able to manage complex workflows that involve multiple stakeholders and build strong relationships within Tax and across the company, but not limited to the following:

  • Strategize to establish, plan and deliver on global tax strategy with the CFO
  • Oversee the U.S. and international tax provision process in accordance with ASC-740 thru a 3rd party co-sourcing arrangement
  • Oversee and manage domestic and international income tax compliance, documentation and reporting functions thru a 3rd party co-sourcing arrangement
  • Research, evaluate, develop and implement tax strategies to optimize effective tax rates
  • Research, analyze, interpret and apply global tax laws and principles
  • Identify US and international tax issues and their potential impact to the Company including those relating to GILTI, foreign income, Subpart F income, foreign tax credits, and transfer pricing
  • Oversee U.S. sales, property, and other indirect tax planning compliance, and reporting
  • Prepare and present board-level and C-level presentations as needed
  • Work closely and collaboratively with senior leaders in finance, divisions and functional departments
  • Manage relationships with Tax authorities, compliance providers and external advisors
  • Work collaboratively with others within and outside of his or her function to achieve goals, simply processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and on time
  • Hire, manage, coach and develop direct reports and global tax department staff
  • Adhere consistently with all Fortrea employment policies and practices
  • Drive sustainable, outstanding business results through traditional management functions including, but not limited to, sourcing and selecting talent, coaching and development, workforce and project scheduling, performance assessment, and general talent planning
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity, a commitment to Labcorp policies and procedures, including but not limited to confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities

Education:

  • Master of Science or Master of Business Administration (Preference with concentration of Taxation), and a CPA required; additional work experience may be accepted as a substitution for educational requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in U.S. and/or international income tax experience required
  • Previous experience leading a US Headquartered public company’s tax department and/or a person with significant public company experience working in a corporate tax environment
  • Previous leadership experience – proven experience leading and building high-performing teams
  • Experience working with services tax vs. product tax (example, transfer pricing)
  • Extensive U.S. Federal, State & International income tax, and transaction tax knowledge
  • Extensive experience in identifying, analyzing, and communicating complex tax issues and their impact on the company and its operations to key stakeholders, and executive leaders
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record as a trusted advisor and business partner - driving business insights, actions, and accountability, with a customer service-oriented attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with an outsourced tax model

Pay Range: $230,000-$320,000 (The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity)
