  • The Senior Manager, Strategy and Enablement Asia, is expected to apply problem-solving and analytical capabilities, strategic thinking and insight generation, and effective communications and relationship management. The successful candidate will work in a team-based collaborative environment where roles can vary from project to project, engage regularly with senior leaders across Sun Life, effectively manage strategy and enablement projects and processes, and structure and lead quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve critical strategic and implementation questions.

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant business experience, ideally within Life and Health Insurance  and/or Investment Management; experience in or knowledge of Sun Life's businesses and the Asia markets would be assets
  • University degree in business or related discipline; MBA or other relevant advanced degree techniques, is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) in-depth secondary research, including collection and synthesis
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analytics, including using modelling tools and is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and solving complex business problems and conducting

Responsibilities (heading) / Responsabilités (titre)

  • Strategy design and development; strategy diagnostics
  • Translate ambiguous strategic goals and issues into clearly defined problem statements, hypotheses, and corresponding analyses
  • Challenge thinking and provide perspectives, strategic frameworks, and analysis support to help businesses and functions advance ideas on focus topics, and answer critical strategic questions
  • Define research plan and execute research on external trends and competitive environment; business and financial analysis; competitive positioning analysis; and strategy articulation.
  • Conduct research into businesses historical financial and operational performance, strategy, and operations; strategic positions within a market, and strategic advantages / hindrances; recommend / evaluate future strategies, including identifying areas where action / augmentation / correction is needed
  • Enablement and Programme Management
  • Provide support to strategic programmes, including:  workstream definition, scope, approach and goals; milestones; resourcing; interdependencies; governance, communication and change management plan
  • Coordinate and drive the programme – ensuring quality execution, clear decision making, and good visibility on progress and gaps
  • Problem solve – drawing in resources from around Sun Life / external if needed – to remove roadblocks
  • Project/ Programme Design and Execution
  • Execute project plans and manage across multiple work streams, adapting and reprioritizing as necessary to meet project objectives while ensuring timely delivery and achievable scope
  • Support project delivery in partnership with multiple team members (from strategy and enablement and partners in Business Groups/functions)
  • Bring new perspectives, creative ideas, and practical approaches to problems and issues
  • Communication and relationship management
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative analytical results to guide recommendations and inform strategic decision making
  • Communicate findings and recommendations succinctly in a logical and coherent storyline that facilitates productive discussion and decision making among senior executives
  • Tailor written and verbal communication based on audience and situation to facilitate
  • productive discussions, foster buy-in, and establish productive working relationships

  • Prepare and present both formal and informal updates on analysis/recommendations for stakeholders including senior executives
