We are looking for a seasoned Azure Application and Service Architect to lead the analysis and design of our application portfolio for migration to Azure cloud. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure services, with the ability to analyze current application tech stacks, map them to appropriate Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS), Containers as a Service (CaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings, and make informed decisions on replatforming, refactoring, or rearchitecting applications. This role will involve close collaboration with enterprise architects and stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and architectural standards. **Responsibilities:** 1. **Application Analysis:** Conduct thorough assessments of current application architectures, technologies, dependencies, and performance characteristics to understand their suitability for migration to Azure cloud. 2. **Azure Service Mapping:** Identify and evaluate Azure PaaS, CaaS, and IaaS services that best align with the requirements and characteristics of each application, considering factors such as scalability, availability, performance, and cost. 3. **Migration Strategy:** Define migration strategies for each application, including replatforming, refactoring, or rearchitecting approaches, based on the "R-type" analysis (Replatform, Refactor, Rearchitect) and business priorities. 4. **Azure Service Selection:** Make informed decisions on selecting appropriate Azure services for hosting, storage, compute, networking, databases, and other application components, considering factors such as compatibility, functionality, and cost-effectiveness. 5. **Enterprise Architecture Alignment:** Collaborate with enterprise architects to ensure that Azure cloud migration strategies and designs align with broader architectural principles, standards, and governance frameworks. 6. **Technical Decision-Making:** Lead discussions and workshops with stakeholders, technical teams, and enterprise architects to present analysis findings, propose migration options, and make recommendations for Azure service adoption and application transformation. 7. **Performance Optimization:** Work with development teams to optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability in Azure cloud, leveraging Azure-native features and services. 8. **Cost Optimization:** Identify opportunities for cost optimization through resource consolidation, usage optimization, reserved instances, and other cost-saving measures in Azure cloud environments. 9. **Documentation and Reporting:** Prepare detailed documentation of application assessments, migration plans, architecture designs, and decision rationale, and communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Extensive experience in application architecture design, development, and migration, with a focus on Azure cloud platform. - In-depth knowledge of Azure PaaS, CaaS, and IaaS services, including Azure App Service, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Storage. - Strong understanding of application modernization techniques, such as lift-and-shift, rehosting, refactoring, and rearchitecting, and their implications for cloud migration. - Proven ability to analyze complex technical environments, evaluate options, and make data-driven decisions in collaboration with stakeholders. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Experience working in cross-functional teams and driving consensus on technical solutions and architecture decisions. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.
