The Opportunity

Would you like to gain global private equity investment experience in the international office of one of the largest and most sophisticated asset management platforms in the world?

Based in Hong Kong, we are looking for one student to join the Private Capital (Direct Investing) team for an internship of 6 months. We are looking for candidates who can start in early January 2025 for a period of 6 months. However, if you are not available for immediate start, please let us know if you would consider our 6 months (July to December 2025) internship cycle.

Who You’ll Work With

The Private Capital team is a global private equity group of over 60 investment professionals that sits across the Toronto, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mumbai offices and leads a portfolio of over CAD50 billion. The Private Capital team makes direct equity investments into private companies and invests as an LP into external private equity funds around the world. The team has generated approximately 20% net returns since inception through a combination of direct and fund investments.

You will work and learn alongside with a team of investment professionals in the Hong Kong office who focuses on private equity opportunities in North Asia, and have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of professionals including colleagues and teams across our global offices (including Singapore and India offices) and external advisors.

What you’ll do

In supporting the Private Capital (Direct Investing) team, you will support the evaluation of new private equity direct investment opportunities and help manage our existing investments. Regular tasks will include conducting industry and company research, building financial models, and drafting investment memorandums.

What you’ll need

  • Roles requires excellent communication skills in Korean, both written and verbal
  • Must have work permission in Hong Kong via university enrolment in a Hong Kong university or permanent Hong Kong residency status
  • Must return to school for undergraduate or graduate studies after your internship. We do not take graduates for the program
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate’s degree with a concentration in business, finance, accounting or economics
  • At least in 3rd year of university study
  • Keen interest in investing and familiarity with financial modelling
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to perform in-depth analysis
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • The ability to balance multiple priorities and initiatives while remaining detail-oriented
