Northrop Grumman has an exciting career opportunity for a Network Monitoring Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Fort Greely, Alaska. 

Position Overview:  

Trained in both Computer System Operator (CSO) and GCN Operator positions.

CSO: Supports the operation of the GMD Fire Control/Communications system. CSOs are responsible for the startup, configuration, monitoring, and analysis of GFC/C software. Monitors GMD assets and reports status. Analyzes operational issues and assists with test/exercise events. Participates in scheduled system and site transitions. Effectively interfaces & communicates with military customers to provide Level 1 technical support and problem resolution. Performs workstation and server log management. Utilizes GFC knowledge and experience to analyze, document, and report anomalies, determine cause, offer solutions, and implement corrective action when required. Understand and execute standard operating procedures to maximize operational availability. Adheres to applicable procedures, policies, and directives. Effectively responds to work schedule changes and recall activities as needed to support mission requirements.

GCN Operator: Supports the operation of the GMD Communications Network (GCN) through effective monitoring and management of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) devices. Utilizes Solar Winds network monitoring software. Configures ports on routers and switches. Tracks trouble tickets to document outages or other network issues.

Trainer: Once fully qualified in either skillset, responsible for the training of new hire personnel and documenting individual task training and Quality Training Record (QTR) completion in that skillset.

Essential Functions:

  • Using SolarWinds and other network management tools to monitor hardware devices, virtual machines, and network connections
  • Configuring router and switch interfaces in accordance with written documentation
  • Detecting and reporting faults
  • Assisting Field Engineers with troubleshooting activities
  • Participating in asset and system transitions
  • Maintaining archives of system logs
  • Accurately record events in shift logs and trouble tickets
  • Strictly adhering to all applicable processes, approved procedures, and management directives
  • Effectively responding to work schedule changes as needed to support mission requirements
  • In this role, you will be responsible startup, configuration, monitoring, and analysis of GFC/C software.
  • Monitor GMD assets and reports status.
  • Analyzes operational issues and assists with test/exercise events.
  • Effectively interfaces and communicates with military and customers to provide problem resolution. Performs workstation and server log management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Interim secret clearance, eligible to obtain an DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II / IAM – Level I or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in a STEM field

Salary Range: $45,800.00 - $76,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
