Main Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the implementation of a new global EHS Management (Environment, Health and Safety) IT system for Trafigura. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful deployment of the new platform across our global operations, aligning business and technology strategies, and driving the adoption of best practices in EHS compliance and reporting.

The IT Project Manager will collaborate with key business and IT stakeholders, and report to the Global Head of CHESS and Global IT Portfolio Manage to ensure a smooth and effective rollout, providing structure, governance, and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

  • 5-10 years of experience in IT project management, with a track record of implementing enterprise software solutions in a global environment.
  • Strong experience with CHESS-related systems (e.g., EHS, compliance, incident management, sustainability platforms).
  • Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder, cross-functional projects across multiple regions.
  • Experience with SaaS implementation, cloud-based solutions, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of change management, training, and user adoption strategies.
  • Familiarity with IT governance, security, and regulatory compliance requirements in a multinational enterprise.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certifications are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of the EHS Management System globally, ensuring alignment with business requirements and IT standards.
  • Develop and manage project plans, scope, budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve successful deployment.
  • Work closely with vendors, system integrators, and internal IT teams to ensure smooth configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure robust change management, training, and adoption strategies for business users across all regions.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Global CHESS team, IT, and other business stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
  • Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, and status reports to the Global IT Portfolio Manager and Global Head of CHESS.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and engagement sessions to drive business buy-in and user adoption.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to address them proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with Trafigura’s IT governance frameworks, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish key project KPIs and performance metrics to measure success and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Technical & Process Alignment

  • Work with IT teams to ensure integration with existing enterprise systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Define business process improvements and ensure alignment with CHESS operational requirements and best practices.
  • Drive data migration, validation, and reporting accuracy within the EHS Management System.

Work Environment

  • This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Some travel may be required depending on project needs and stakeholder locations.

  • Senior Leadership & Regional CHESS Leads – Ensures global and local engagement, buy-in, and deployment success.

External Partners:

  • EHS Management System Vendor – Works closely on system configuration, testing, deployment, and support.
  • System Integrators & Consultants – Provides expertise in implementation, customisation, and best practices.
