We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 3 based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. This position will require onsite work - flexible work arrangements and some remote work may be possible.

What You'll Get to Do:

Be part of the Engineering, Sciences, & Technology (ES&T) Field Engineering, Logistics, and Tech Data & Training organization.  This is a dual-hat position responsible for both personnel management (~ 50% of time) for a multi-disciplined team of 80 – 120 engineers and existing technical/program responsibilities (~50% of time, not addressed by this requisition).

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the skillset of a LEADER. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sustainable top performance. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.  Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Technical contributor / leader in a program role.

  • Functional oversight for a geographically dispersed team of systems engineers, intel analysts, integrators and field engineers of varied disciplines that supports many different systems on multiple platforms.

  • Staffing and workload forecast; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; identification and training of employee skills required to successfully execute on programs; and execution of employee performance review processes.

  • Recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, performance management and contract maintenance for contractors working in the business area as required.

  • Issue identification/reporting as well as status reporting up the ES&T and program management chains.

  • Engage in the preparation of department-related meetings, proposal work statements and operating budgets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years related experience.

  • Experience with DoD related Field Operations and product support.

  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead teams across multiple engineering disciplines,  programs and geographic regions.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% if needed (within the Continental U.S.).

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline.

  • Experience with DoD logistics related product support.

  • Experience leading in multi-contractor team environments.

  • Demonstrated capability to make difficult decisions that impact team direction and team performance outcomes.

  • Experience in activities related to Field operations in a 24/7/365 work environment in remote locations.

  • IR (Infrared), Simulation, Intel, Navigation or Positioning background.

  • Active/Current U.S. DOD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $178,500.00 - $267,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
