The position of Senior Project Manager, Engineering is within Abbott’s Molecular Diagnostics division located in Des Plaines, IL.

As a Senior Project Manager- Engineer, you'll be responsible for all aspects of a large-scale and complex project, from start to finish, ensuring it is completed on time and within budget.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Manage large complex engineering projects or multiple smaller projects of low or moderate complexity.
  • Organize and drive cross-functional teams (CFTs) to execute near-term tactical efforts in the achievement of long-term strategic project goals.
  • Leverage CFTs to develop project costs, schedules, and resource needs. Create and maintain a project plan throughout the project.
  • Effectively convey project objectives, status, and risks to cross-divisional functions and executive leadership through clear and accurate written and verbal communication.
  • Develop and draft business cases for engineering projects. Seek and obtain approval of capital, when necessary, through submission of Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs).
  • Maintain project budgets for capital and project expenses. Report cash flow projections to division finance quarterly and as needed.
  • Create, obtain approval, and execute design plans for minor product design and process changes. Ensure required change control and qualification activities are executed as required to successfully achieve project goals.
  • Anticipate issues and mitigate risks in advance of schedule or technical impact on the project.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience ± 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Med Device, Pharma industry.
  • Extensive experience leading complex cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading manufacturing equipment/automation-related projects and/or molding/packaging-related projects.
  • PMO Certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt training and/or certification.
  • Risk Management/FMEA development.
  • Capital project management.

The base pay for this position is

$83,000.00 – $166,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
