THE ROLE

The Senior Project Manager [Sr PM] executes, facilitates, and aids in the directing of strategy, business analysis, resource allocation and project management for strategic projects conducted at MFS, partnering with stakeholders at all levels.  The Sr PM leverages a deep knowledge of the asset management industry to deliver complete business solutions aligned with the strategic vision and corporate goals of MFS.  Initiatives managed by Sr. PMs will directly align to the strategic goals of MFS and typically will be multi-year, cross-functional efforts with significant resource and monetary investment.   This position will be expected to oversee and manage the complete lifecycle of projects including oversight for all business, operations, technical efforts, and related budgets.  The Sr PM will institute an open and transparent communication environment for all project efforts across project team members, stakeholders and sponsors.  As a dependency to project success, the Sr PM will follow and champion the project management best practices and guidelines.  The Sr PM will participate in and provide input towards the ongoing efforts to improve efficiency of the team and project management functions. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Further the business goals of MFS through the direct management and execution of best-in-class projects/solutions for MFS. Plan, implement and control project work.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, project plans and communication plans.  Analyze projects for resource requirements and build project timelines.  Work with project participants to maintain accountability to the timelines and a timely and accurate completion of the project.  Report project progress and /or issues to project Steering Committee. Rework timelines for any significant obstacles when necessary.  Actively create and manage project work plans, issues, risks, and key decisions. Manage and monitor all project deliverables to successful completion, leverage best practices and complete project artifacts as appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with business divisions and departments across MFS globally; represent, champion and further the goals and opportunities of MFS teams in support of assigned initiatives
  • Demonstrate, and actively acquire, a detailed understanding for the business needs and objectives of MFS and related internal clients globally based on project.
  • Monitor project budget and resources working with colleagues and project team members, escalate issues as appropriate. Work with project team to allocate resources appropriately. Review demand and capacity and be able to work out conflicts or reprioritize as needed.
  • Masters the creative development process and use of related tools/workflow systems in order to efficiently scope, optimize resources, and track deliverables through project lifecycle.
  • Provide project management, prioritization, direction, and leadership to team members in order to accomplish defined project deliverables.
  • Create metrics to measure project success. Conduct lessons learned meetings/surveys and analyze data and report to sponsor and team.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the field of Project Management, maintaining a solid understanding of the field and its related technologies.
  • May manage team members.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 6-8+ years of related project management experience, preferably within the asset management or financial services industry
  • Extensive experience in project lifecycle management, feasibility analysis and conceptual design through development, implementation, training and rollout. Practical experience leading strategic, cross-functional, multi-year projects through all phases of delivery.
  • Experience designing and delivering presentations and/or training to diverse audiences, including all levels of management, administrative staff members, peers, technical and non-technical personnel, and clients of MFS.
  • Expertise in spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on a wide array of projects and manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.  Strong leadership abilities, strategic and analytical thinking, business partnering skills, excellent attention to detail, outstanding oral and written communication, and presentation skills essential.
  • Ability to align functional expertise and solutions to meet the changing demands of clients, competitors, and regulators.
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
  • Financial skills to manage project's operating and capital budgets.
  • Positive, collaborative, flexible disposition with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates and acts with a "client service" mindset, with a focus on relationship-building.  Customer oriented with a commitment to proactive problem solving to enable client satisfaction.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Agile experience preferred
  • Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Finance applications, such as PeopleSoft and Essbase.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
