As a Project Management Practice Leader, you assist your unit manager by providing subject matter expertise and support for related activities. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your line of work. As part of your practice, you act as the project management representative for strategic cross-sector initiatives. You make recommendations on skill development and the execution of projects and initiatives with a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. You use your analytical skills and comprehensive, in-depth understanding of project management and how the organization operates in cross-sector settings. Your leadership, strategic mindset, organizational savvy and sound decision-making skills are essential. Coordination is critical. You interact with a very large number of key partners working in a wide range of fields. You lead, influence and serve as a subject matter expert for teams, senior management and decision-making bodies. You work with professionals in the community of practice for project managers. You’re trained in coaching, project management and change management, and you provide expert support to project managers. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Provide leadership and exert influence by representing the interests of project managers with stakeholders on strategic, complex, cross-sector and innovative files

  • Champion the profession. Be attuned to the reality of being a project manager with a view to continuous improvement and innovation. Help develop and foster effective implementation of work methods, practices and tools for project managers. Be agile with respect to your profession’s work methods

  • Help advance the profession and its practices by advising practitioners using an approach that builds autonomy. Provide opportunities for networking and collaboration. Promote long-term, cross-sector knowledge sharing. Engage in co-creation with other practice leaders and communities of practice to develop and implement work methods

  • Stay on top of industry best practices. Monitor the market and regularly share advances in the profession by showcasing different perspectives on how it’s moving forward (posting articles, promoting conferences, etc.)

  • Utilize a skills development plan to fully assume your role and responsibilities

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Knowledge of French is required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Advanced proficiency in governance practices: roadmap management, budget monitoring, risk identification and treatment, reporting

  • Solid understanding of agile and traditional delivery methods, approaches and techniques (scaled agile, SAFe framework, Lean practices, continuous delivery, DevOps, traditional project management)

  • Knowledge of OPMI, Jira and Confluence
