Position Summary...
What you'll do...
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and innovative Director of Sustainable Materials and Packaging to be a leader in our sustainable retail team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to leverage your expertise in materials and packaging to advance our sustainability goals, with a specific focus on reducing reliance on plastics, enhancing the use of recycled content, and pioneering the adoption of new, sustainable materials in our product assortment and packaging.
The Director of Sustainable Materials and Packaging will work to lead our strategy development, innovation, and implementation for our sustainable materials and plastics and packaging priorities and integrate them across the global business. This includes:
Provide expert consultation on materials and packaging, with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Develop strategies to increase the use of recycled content and reduce virgin plastics in our packaging and products.
Explore innovative materials and packaging solutions to address plastic waste, recycled content, and novel packaging solutions that lower life cycle impacts.
Progress to our design for recycling and recyclable packaging goals
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement packaging solutions that meet both our sustainability goals and the needs of the business.
Progress strategy on sustainable materials and alternatives in our portfolio
What you’ll do:
Identify, evaluate, and recommend opportunities to introduce new sustainable materials into our product and packaging.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in sustainable materials and incorporate these into our strategies.
Engage with suppliers and other stakeholders to drive sustainability efforts.
Continuously evaluate the environmental impact of our materials and packaging and develop plans to minimize this impact.
Lead educational efforts within the company to promote understanding and support for our sustainability initiatives.
Be key liaison to our NGO partners and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a subject matter expert in materials and packaging, preferably with a focus on sustainability.
Strong understanding of current trends and advancements in sustainable materials.
Proven record in leading initiatives to reduce plastic usage and increase recycled content.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
Commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.
Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree or additional certifications in sustainability or related field are a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
