The role is responsible for the installation, administration, monitoring, maintenance and security of databases, as well as contributing to improvements in database standards, procedures and best practices with the ITIL Framework to ensure Ambit Asset Finance systems operate and perform at optimal levels and in accordance to agreed SLAs.
Core responsibilities
Provide support for the investigation and resolution of problems concerning corporate application databases.
Monitor and optimise the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements.
Maintain the database installations and configurations in all development, QA and production environments
Assist with capacity and performance planning
Assist with vendor support and license management
Implement and maintain SQL HA functionality including multi-subnet Always On Availability
Participate in DBA tasks, e.g. upgrades, installations, backup and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support. Meet availability and capacity targets for corporate databases

Qualifications
IT engineering degree or similar
Experience with SQL Server, Azure SQL, BI Platform, Cosmos DB
Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL is desirable
Experience
Extensive experience as a Senior Database Administrator using Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server including high availability technologies
Data architecture and modelling experience in complex applications integration environments.
In-depth knowledge of SQL internals
Expert in automation programming (preferably PowerShell or equivalent)
Expert in SQL debugging skills
Solid knowledge of database storage platforms and related configuration
Proficient knowledge of Windows operating systems
Previous experience managing projects independently (estimating timelines, assigning tasks, tracking progress, etc.)
Be flexible and be part of on-call/after-hour/shift-work roster as required
