Interface is looking for a paid part-time Design Studio Intern to join our Atlanta, GA office. The Design Studio Intern is a vital member of the Interface Design Studio. This role supports the Interface Design Studio through a variety of channels related to the creation of flooring design concepts and assisting Studio Designers with image and file preparation needed to execute customer specific visualization collateral. We will rely on your creativity, proactiveness, and self-guided problem-solving skills to help propel design at Interface to the next level. The ideal candidate will report to a Lead Studio Designer and be a natural communicator, customer-oriented, and open-minded, with a positive attitude and a strong desire for personal growth. As a global leader in the commercial interior space, we seek a designer who is ready to push boundaries, put their ideas on the line, and make a positive impact within our company and the industry as a whole.

Educational requirements: 

  • Junior or Senior college student working towards degree in design or related field

Skills:

  • A strong portfolio of current work demonstrating a wide range of projects and skills
  • A developed and refined design aesthetic
  • Highly organized, creative, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams
  • Punctual and able to maintain focus while working in an open office environment
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign
  • Knowledge of AutoCad and reading floorplans a plus
  • Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook experience a plus
  • Interest in commercial interiors and other adjacent industries (flooring, furniture, lighting, textiles, etc.) 

Essentials Duties:

  • Assist the Studio Design team with preparing images and floor plans for digital renderings
  • Create both 2D and 3D digital installs
  • Assist the Studio Design team with printing and shipping deliverables for sales and customers
  • Comply with safety rules and environmental regulations
  • Learn and understand Interface’s commitment to sustainability

Physical demands: 

  • Use of standard office equipment and computer
  • Occasional lifting of 15-20 pounds

 Work Environment:

  • Predominantly open office environment with moderate exposure to manufacturing areas
  • Hybrid work schedule: Minimum 3 days/week in Atlanta office with optional work from home 2 days/week
