As a Tax Analyst, you’ll join a team focused on tax fund accounting for the American Funds.  You will perform tax compliance functions, including planning, monitoring, analyzing, accounting, and reporting for all investment vehicles (e.g. mutual funds, exchange traded funds, common trust funds, pension funds, and trusts) and investment securities held by the funds. You may also assist fund treasurers with distribution requirements and tax strategies. You’ll play a critical role as a subject matter expert and will provide guidance on operational and technical questions.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a relevant field of study. CPA is preferred.
  • You’ve had previous tax experience in any industry and have an interest to learn the investment management industry as it relates to US and non-US tax regulations, investment mandates, investment vehicle structures, investment operations, third party providers, competitive landscape, reporting and regulatory environment.
  • You’re well-versed in using Excel to store, present, process and dissect data. You’ve written versatile formulas to solve complex problems.
  • You bring exceptional quality and attention to detail to work deliverables. You like digging into numbers, telling stories with data, and are well-acquainted with financial statements.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable and experienced in communicating complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • You enjoy mentoring people, dissecting processes, and completing projects. You are a role model who others look to for guidance. You understand the importance of mindful communication when working within an inclusive environment.
  • Your professional experience has included times when you’ve delivered constructive feedback to team members, verbally and in writing.
  • You are available and open to work overtime as needed.

Hampton Roads Base Salary Range: $88,190-$141,104

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
