General Description:
The President and CEO of Manulife China Bank Life Assurance Corporation (MCBL) will lead sustainable growth of the Joint Venture between Manulife and China Bank (CB). This would include leading partnership management, delivering on our sales and profitability targets, developing our distribution team and bench strength, managing the key business risks, and ensuring quality outcomes for customers.
As a member of the Manulife Philippines Executive Committee, you will play an active role in delivering Manulife’s business objectives.
Position Responsibilities:
a) President and CEO of MCBL. Responsible for achieving sustainable growth and delivery of the key financial and non-financial objectives of the Company.
b) Develop and ensure a scalable and sustainable business strategy for MCBL to maximize the penetration of the bank’s customer base. This includes activating all material segments of the bank including the main, branch banking business, private banking, institutional banking, CB Savings and banking products like credit cards.
c) Manage the P & L for MCBL and responsible for achieving all key financial metrics including APE, WFYP, Fee Income, Core Earnings and New Business Value, as well as all nonfinancial metrics including Risk, Operations, Customer Net Promoter Score, Employee Engagement, new customer acquisition.
d) Actively manage and continuously strengthen the relationships between Manulife and CB ensuring that relationship excellence and transparency on all matters impacting the two major shareholders. Also ensure that all aspects of the agreement between MCBL and CB are honored.
e) Sales management of the business including managing and training in branch sales which consists of 400 insurance specialists spread throughout the country, as well as area and regional managers.
f) Recruit, train, and develop MCBL employees, engage and educate CB Branch Staff, and manage performance and attrition.
g) Deliver the best customer experience to CB and MCBL customers and continuously looking for opportunities to improve the experience.
h) Ensure the Product Portfolio is complete, with products designed for distributing through the bank and bank segments.
i) Work with the Chief Marketing Officer and CB to develop and execute a branding and marketing strategy for MCBL.
j) Jointly with the Manulife Philippines (MP) President ensure the smooth delivery of all shared services with MP.
k) Work with the CB and Manulife Digital and Technology teams to ensure MCBL becomes a Digital Customer Leader, using technology to enable the sales force, bank referrers, and customers.
l) Ensure MCBL meets all regulatory requirements to provide quality outcomes for customers (including 13-month persistency results in line with product assumptions).
Other Responsibilities:
a) Abide by and perform to the best of his abilities all functions, duties and responsibilities to be assigned by the Company in due course.
b) Comply with the orders and instructions given from time to time by the Company through its authorised representatives.
Required Qualifications:
▪ Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, or a related field.
▪ At least 10 years’ experience in senior leadership roles, preferably within the financial services and/or insurance industry.
▪ Strategic Planning: Proven experience in developing and executing business strategies that have driven profitable growth.
▪ Global Perspective: Understanding of global financial markets, Insurance Best Practice, and regulatory environments.
▪ Operational Management: Strong background in managing operations of a large, complex organization.
▪ Risk Management: Deep understanding of risk management practices within the financial services sector.
▪ Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, including shareholders, regulators, customers and employees.
▪ Financial Services Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, including trends, challenges and opportunities.
▪ Regulatory Environment: Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance issues relevant to the insurance and financial sectors.
▪ Technology and Digital Transformation: Awareness of the impact of technology on the industry and experience leading digital transformation initiatives.
▪ Governance Knowledge: Strong understanding of corporate governance best practices.
