Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has a opening for an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering Organization. This position is located in Melbourne, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop wiring harness/cable assembly installations into air vehicles for multiple aerospace programs using SAE AS 50881 and proven commercial practices as a guide.
Working independently under general supervision and as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
Collaborate with inter-departmental vehicle sub-system departments including aircraft structure, equipment installation, hydraulics, environmental control systems, and manufacturing teams.
Facilitating design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

Position may be filled as either an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer OR Principal Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer depending on the qualifications below.
The basic qualifications of the Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience.
The basic qualifications of the Principal Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer are a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience.
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Experience in a 3D design tool such as NX, Catia V5, or ProE
Experience with wire harness design and routing principles such as EMI separation, military connectors and backshells, shielding and overbraid, splicing, minimum bend radius, chafe protection, electrical bonding, and grounding.
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
