GEICO is seeking an accomplished, systems-thinking and results oriented Senior UX/UI Designer. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with engineers, product management and other designers to design and deliver scalable design system solutions. This role will help define and enhance the design system components, patterns, and guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency across products, channels and touchpoints.
As a Senior UX/UI designer on the Design Systems team you will be responsible for creating, evolving and maintaining a system of reusable components that ensure a seamless and coherent user experience. You will strive to meet user and business needs, adhere to our design principles, and stay current on industry best practices. You will be part of a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary design and research team that value system thinking, human-centered design and embraces a growth mindset.
This position is a hybrid role that requires to be on-site 3 days a week at one of the following locations: Chevy Chase, MD; New York City, NY; Chicago, IL; San Jose, CA; Fredericksburg/Richmond, VA
Job Responsibilities
Delivers high quality design system assets including patterns tokens and components, ensuring proper implementation and adoption across teams.
Collaborates with product, engineering, and business teams to align scalable design solutions that meet customer and business needs.
Translates complex design system requirements into clear, reusable components, design tokens and documentation that enhance consistency across platforms.
Manages evolving design priorities, providing clear direction and input on component development and product delivery timelines.
Advocates for user-centered design practices, integrating research, user testing and feedback into design system improvements.
Collaborates with users of the design system to ensure alignment on design decision, component usage and system updates
Develops detailed user flows, prototypes and specifications to communicate design intent to cross-functional teams.
Continually evaluates and updates the design system, ensuring that it meets Accessibility standards and supports GEICO’s evolving product needs.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience (or 3+ with Masters degree) with User Experience design including component-driven design systems
Demonstrated ability to design for cross-channel experiences (e.g. responsive we, native mobile)
Advanced proficiency in design tools (Ex. Figma) to deliver library components, prototypes which drive successful collaboration across design teams
Ability to collaborate with Product Management, Engineering and Operations teams, ensuring effective handoff and implementation of design assets
Strong communication and storytelling skills to articulate design decisions and system updates
Annual Salary
$102,000.00 - $168,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
