Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking an onsite Project Controls Manager to join our team! The Project Controls Manager is part of the Project Controls Team to support the planning and execution of small to large utility-scale solar construction projects. You will work with the Project Manager through engineering, construction, and closeout while interfacing with the Accounting and Finance Departments, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. The Project Controls Manager is responsible for understanding the project scope, and budget, and collecting and analyzing information related to project progress and expenses. This individual will be responsible for seeking ways to improve the accuracy of budgets and forecasts. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This position is 100% travel and offers per diem while working on our project sites. Site states include, but are not limited to: Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work under the general supervision of the Project Manager and understand and execute Project control processes and procedures to deliver successful and profitable results.
  • Work with internal teams including project development, engineering, procurement, contracting, finance, accounting, and external clients to execute projects.
  • Manage contract scope and support the change management process.
  • Facilitate purchasing and subcontracting processes.
  • Oversee progress reporting and schedule updates.
  • Administer the project's use of Heavyjob, including accurate timekeeping and quantity reporting.
  • Analyze project cost, change management, schedule, and internal and external risk factors that indicate the financial direction of the project to produce a total estimate at completion forecasts. 
  • Prepare necessary schedules to analyze cost components (e.g., Labor, supplies, permanent materials, subcontracts, equipment, etc.). 
  • Prepare Job Cost Adjustment (JCAs) entries to correct miscoded costs. 
  • Lead Project Cost Reviews with Management and prepare Project Status Reports (PSR). 
  • Be proficient in Data Management
  • Manage project documentation including submittals, RFIs, RFPs, and closeout documentation.
  • Represent company/project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, etc.
  • Ensure contractors meet BRP safety and quality standards and regularly conduct safety-related inspections and reporting.
  • Other duties as directed. 

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years of experience in construction.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling concepts, techniques, and software such as Primavera P6, or other related industry scheduling tools.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including advanced usage of MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Strong work ethic, a high degree of detail orientation, and an extreme sense of urgency.  

Nice-to-Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial building construction.
  • Experience in the utility-scale solar/renewable energy industry. 
  • Proficient in enterprise resource planning software & HeavyJob.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or business management or 2+ years of experience in construction required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • 100% travel, project-based assignment.
  • Must possess reliable transportation. 
  • Able to travel for extended periods to various locations.
  • Must be able to comply with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA requirements.
  • Must follow organization policies and procedures.
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must be able to tolerate all climates.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
